Ecstatic off a Florida straw poll victory that is sure to elevate his visibility, Republican presidential contender Herman Cain said Sunday that the GOP establishment better start paying attention because he's getting respect from voters.
"The takeaway from Florida, that we took away, is that number one, the citizens movement is more powerful than the establishment wants to give me credit for. So yes, they keep treating me like the Rodney Dangerfield of this primary contest," Cain told Fox News.
"The voters, the people out in the field are saying we want to send a message to Washington, D.C. The establishment is not going to make this call, the people are going to make the call and that's what you saw in the Florida straw poll yesterday," he said.
Cain won the straw poll decisively on Saturday, garnering 37 percent of the 2,657 votes cast. Far behind was Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 15. 4 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 14 percent. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum came in fourth with 10.88 percent.
The results were a stunner to many since Cain is out-funded and doesn't have the same name recognition as other candidates like Perry, who also spent time and money on securing a strong showing at the event.
Romney had vowed before the primary season to sit out straw polls but the former Godfather's Pizza CEO has also invested his time in Florida. The winner of the straw poll wins the Florida GOP endorsement ahead of the primary, the date of which is still being disputed.

Surprisingly the only one to give Cain props in the last debate was Huntsman...on the VP question.
I heard in one of the debates Romney give him props for being the only one besides him to create private sector jobs.
Considering the mess the professional politicians have created in every thing except our Military, that is a strong point in his favor.
Dwight D Esinehower had no elected office experience either.
Our system needs deep fundamental reform. Expecting professional politicians to do that is the equivalent of putting drug addicts in charge of a bankrupt pharmacy expecting them to turn it around.

Great answer - worth saying twice! :-)
Frickin Hilarious. Where do I get one?
CORRECTED:
I expected that the LibPervs and his opponents, would play down Herman Cains success, but found it insulting that even Brit Hume wont give him any more than grudging respect.
If there is some critical flaw eith Herman Cains 999 plan, or in any nature of his candidacy, would anyone care to point it out?
Ive not made up my mind as to who I will choose, but Cain looks better and better to me, and I I will love posting in every public forum, what racist liar scum the MSM and the rest of the “Left” ate, when they begin to attack attack him in earnest.
Morgan Freeman...What a shame to see that he has sunk to being such a booze pickled, racist, has been, he has sunk to being. He used to be an fine actor who deserved respect...Now I wouldnt want to be like him. Wouldn’t give him a glass of water if he were already in hell....where he is going.
Really? Other then GB 1, none of our past President from Ford on have had any real foreign policy experience. That is a non issue.
His Health? Hmm he is running a 24-7 campaign that relies almost wholly on his making a personal connection to voters. No big bundlers-no big media experts, just Mr Cain going out and meeting voters at events or in small groups.
Cain is waging possibly the most physically challenge strenuous campaign of any of the candidates.
You see any sign his health is troubled by that hyper active schedule?
Opps! Sorry bout that
And how did Eisenhower govern? Did he govern in the manner of an arch conservative or was he more moderate? If Cain governs more moderate than his talk, will that be acceptable?
Gov. Huckabee filled the pulpit in my church several times There was no doubt that he was preaching the Word.
Fred took votes away from Fred all on his own. Huckabee was in long before Fred finally decided to jump in the race.
Anyone who bothers to study his proposals and listen to him, learns that about him.
Please put us on your Ping list. My wife and I think Mr. Cain is the one who is going to step into the vacuum here and be our next nominee and kick Obama’s sorry butt!

RE: The only problem that I have with Herman Cain is that he has no governing experience.
Two other concerns:
* Foreign Policy experience
* How healthy is he really?”
Very few Presidents have foreign policy experience when they take office. George H.W. Bush and Dwight Eisenhower were exceptions in the 20th Century. With respect to governing experience, the President’s job is chief executive, not legislator. If we wish to return to first principles Cain’s executive experience in private industry should serve him much better than the legislative experience of an Obama or John McCain.

I don’t think he is either, but he is still unproven under the political pressure of high office. His supporters are relying on faith that he will govern in the manner they want him too since he has no actual record to judge, such as Palin and Perry do.
As far as getting the nomination though, I think his lack of governing record will be a plus, as in no news is good news, all he has to do now is successfully handle the onlaught he is about to recieve and debate well as a target. If he does that he has a good chance at the nod.
A thank you message from Mr. Cain after winning the Presidency 5 straw poll!
The win today in the Florida GOP straw poll was not my win. It was OUR win. The 37 to 15 percent margin told the political establishment and the media that We The People will not elect career politicians and that We are tired of the failed leadership from the Obama administration. We have raised over $25,000 since the results were announced. Please help us match that in the next five hours. (From Team HC ~ When Mr. Cain asked if we could raise $25,000 in five hours, apparently y'all didn't get the memo. You have blown that number away. As Mr. Cain would say "Love y'all. LOVE Y'ALL!" Thank you!
