Rick Perry's campaign stuggles to explain straw poll loss

Reporting from Tampa, Fla. -- A black, threatening cloud hung low over the Orange County Convention Center on Saturday evening as top members of Gov. Rick Perry’s brain trust left a place their candidate would love to forget.

At best half showed up, leaving tables groaning with uneaten bagels, scrambled eggs, bacon and fruit cocktail. At the end of the governor’s rather perfunctory eight-minute speech, the breakfast crowd offered a rather perfunctory round of applause, the first public clue that all might not be going well in Perryville.

The Texan’s campaign fielded the largest cadre of volunteers and paid staff at the event. His staffers, wires dangling from their ears (a touch, and expense, that no other campaign matched), were very much in evidence Saturday inside the convention hall, as they distributed signs and buttonholed delegates. Another visible sign of the considerable investment Perry made in Florida: signage that included a huge banner, hanging in the foyer of the convention hall, which greeted the 3,000 delegates, starting on debate night; Perry’s campaign paid an undisclosed sum to the state party for the privilege.

>>>>>And so the PDS begins.

Not at all. Just a good dose of sarcasm, bozo. After all the trash you been flinging on this thread at Perry, I thought a little bit of your own medicine was in order. How did you react? You whined that I was engaging in PDS. Struck a nerve. I like it.

And I like Palin too and would vote for her. Is she running? NO!

“Saint Sarah” (a well accepted PDS term) AND Bozo Too!

That’s why we come to FR. The high-brow intelligent posts. And Posters.

You do SO remind me of Ronald Reagan with your debate style. I see now why you chose him for a screen name (/s)

Perry said skipping the straw poll was a blunder.

“I think that’s a big mistake. I think it’s very important,” Perry said, citing its history.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Relax, just having a little fun with the anti-Perry smear merchants. LOL

Btw, you don't think there is some truth in what I posted? Just read the comments around FR. It will paint a crystal clear picture for you. Many on this forum are infatuated with the Savior from Wasilla.

I have not seen such savage and constant attacks on one candidate so early in the primaries by some on the right and of course by the entire left. Those who claim to be super conservatives and are attacking Perry and want him defeated are really deluding themselves if they think other than Romney would be the nominee if Perry is defeated. Would they prefer Romney the Massachusetts liberal over Perry?

Wow, I really upset you! So much so, you’re thrown out red herrings to cover your dumb reply.

You sound like Perry in the last debate, stumbling around trying to make sense of it all. LOL

Then you have never been involved in politics before. Sorry but the Perry camp trying to play the victim card like this is another Leftist tactic that will not work with Conservative voters.

I have.
I said it was a blunder and an error and it only should offend Texans.
No one else is paying for any of this in state tuition.
I expect an apology from Perry on the Heartless thing just as I expected an apology on the bachmann gaff about gardasil causing mental retardation.

And I am going to reiterate this one more time..
Perry has NOTHING to apologize about for the in state tuition matter.
The legislature passed that bill by a veto proof margin.

Perry was very foolish in trotting out the “heartless” comment.
It is incendiary in a primary.
He could play that angle in the general election, but this is the primary.

The ball is squarely in his court.

I’m still struggling to explain the scarcity of hardcore Perry supporters that told the rest of us to “shut up” and get on board with their candidate or we were guaranteed 4 more of Obama or even Romney.

Anyone seen one?

Yes, he does. You don’t think so, so be it. We’ll see if America agrees with the two of you.

In the night, I hear ‘em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, Perry lost his soul to a party so heartless..
How could we be so heartless?
Oh.. How could the GOP be so heartless?

Herman Cain may think he has the ball but the ball is in Perrys court.

Once again all the chatter is about Rick Perry.
Even on Hermans BIG DAY.

The attacks againt Bush in 1999&2000 were nasty and vicious. At that time there were plenty more malcontents, misfits and militants hanging around stirring up trouble.

This time for Perry, the most nasty attacks come from Palinista’s and the Paultard’s.

Perry’s no rino. Granted, Perry does have a less than ideal stance on immigration. Otherwise, he’s a good conservative. And he better get his act together for the next debate and stay focused on the campaign trail if he wants to get through this rough patch.
