ORLANDO Former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain won the Presidency 5 straw poll here Saturday, delivering a blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perrys frontrunner status and a victory for a candidate who has struggled to transform his grassroots popularity into strong showings in national polls.
Tonights winner is Herman Cain, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced. It shows you something, the road to the White House come through Florida, and it pays to spend time here.
He received 37 percent of the more than 2,600 votes cast.
Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today, Mr. Cain said. This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of common-sense solutions across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election.
The two national frontrunners Mr. Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney placed second and third. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, meanwhile, landed in fourth place; Rep. Ron Paul of Texas landed in fifth place; and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, sixth. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann finished last. (See the poll results here.)

Lifers in our Govt, take note. Here's your pink slip!
The only shock to me is the shock that the MSM is feeling right now...
They are probably in their newsrooms right now going: “How come all those racist Tea Party Republicans are voting for a black man”.
Answer for the MSM: “We are picking Cain for his character not the color of his skin like you all did with Obama”.
Drudge is easily shocked, isn’t he? But way to go, Herman!
The man has The Message!
Vote for him in a flash!
WOO-HOO!
Vey hugh and series!!! Maybe now Herman will get more than just 5 minutes total time in the next debate.
Um... not a shock to me. A lot of us are finished with the pampered, focus-group driven, teleprompter elites ruling us right now. Let them eat pizza.
Now that’s news to celebrate. I’m going to wander off the the refrig and pour another glass of wine. YES!!
Exactly. I am ready for a Cain ticket. I would love it even more if Newt was there. The elite can kiss my voting ass.
“dont LET the media pick our canidate again...GO HERMAN!!”
EXACTLY. The establishment will always go for a RINO. “We need a moderate or we can’t win!”
I really feel like something is seriously changing in America right now. It began with the Tea Party, continued with last year’s elections and is picking up more steam.
A weak economy is simply not tolerated by the voters.
After the ‘08 election I remember that a fellow FReeper was giving consolation. “It took a Carter to give us a Reagan.” As bad as we know Obama would be, there was hope that this would be the thing to push a serious conservative into the White House.
I’ve been desperately waiting for ‘the’ candidate. I’ve always liked Cain, but I didn’t think that he could muster the support. (I am sorry to see Bachmann’s campaign fizzle like it has.)
Today the stars aligned and he’s got the momentum. If he avoids major blunders, he can take this thing and the nation can come back from the brink.
Pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, common sense...
RAISE CAIN!
No more MSM telling us who our candidates are. No more holding our nose. Finally someone who will look for solutions based on ROI. Finally a problem solver based on data not politics. He will clean Obama’s clock in a debate. If he picks Rubio omg!!!!Rubio versus Bidden. Can you imagine.

Bachmann came in last!!!
Three years ago it was a point of faith around here that the presidency isn’t an entry level position. That still seems sensible to me but whatever.
