Obama’s private visit is a public insult
Seattle Post Intelligencer ^ | September 22, 2011 | by Joel Connelly

The 2008 candidate who was “Fired Up and Ready to Go” is coming here: It will cost you $35,800 to go see Barack Obama close up in Medina and perhaps ask the 44th president a question.

But this visit will have no public events.

The message should go out to Obama from those who still have faded “Hope” stickers on their cars, along with faded hopes: We’re here, too.

The failure of Obama to hold a public event is insulting. The man’s job is to serve: Serving requires listening and learning. Instead, the Sunday visit is an exercise in using.

The Northwest was not just a source of campaign dollars, but a region making stuff that the world wants to buy.

Obama was an enormous hit here in 2008. He swept to victory in Washington’s caucuses and the Oregon primary, even though the Clintons had cultivated the region for nearly two decades.

The president’s political advisers can raise their noses and ask: Where else to our people have to go? The answer is they can stay home.

I like the last part about the red voters staying home instead of voting for the marxist.

After he fills his coffers with cash donations from the ‘rich folks’ he supposedly despises, then he’ll go visit with the ‘little people’ that he loves...

I think the real point is if he was on the job, the taxpayers would get to pick up the tab. Since it’s private, the whole kit and kaboodle better be paid for by his campaign. The campaign coffers should have plenty of billions since so much stimulous money is unaccounted for.

I agree! Chum is smarter than most give him credit I think, but at least he’s a decent person.

And who pays for the 747, backup aircraft, limos, choppers, support logistics and staff so that he can suck money from rich elitist liberals out there?

In the last year, there are a lot less Obama bumper stickers around King County for sure.

Believe me we still pay for it. He pays like an airfare from DC to where ever and the taxpayers pick up the rest. Essentially we pay about 99.99999%.

Love the bumper sticker. Where can I get one? I think the Obama’s avoid as much public doings as they can out of fear. Case in point...his tank like campaign bus (which he doesn’t even use to ride to various venues...him and the bus fly in. Think he’s terrified of assassination attempts. Would love to know how much hate mail they get.

WOW - just wow! When Joel Connelly is taking Obama to task, you know he’s really bottoming out. Connelly normally makes Olbermann seem rational, and O’Donnell reasoned and moderate. He’s a flaming liberal, water-boy for the Democrats.

When he’s upset with the President, you know that Obama’s gone a bridge too far...

I think it has more to do with the fear of him being recorded when he goes off the teleprompter. The guy sounds like an idiot. I can’t imagine many people would be stupid enough to send hate mail to the White House, lest they get a visit from the US Secret Service.
