Just before solar panel maker Solyndra scrambled in August to get more cash from private investors and better loan terms from federal bureaucrats, top company officials went on a political road show.
Brian Harrison, Solyndra's CEO who on Friday refused to answer questions posed by a House panel, met in July with congressional Republicans who were skeptical about how much money the Obama administration had sunk into the company's factory. He also met Democrats eager to support clean energy.
"Things were on the upswing, that's what they told me," said Diana DeGette, a Democratic member of the House of Representatives.
"I don't understand how they could paint such a rosy picture to us and then five weeks later be in bankruptcy court," DeGette told reporters.
The CEO's assertions were part of a long pattern of Solyndra putting on a positive face for the public as it struggled to keep its business alive. The rosy scenarios Harrison presented now face intense scrutiny from lawmakers, the FBI and other investigators.
The Solyndra saga also has become a political headache for President Barack Obama, whose administration had showcased the company as an example of how renewable energy programs could create jobs.

Obama should be hoping that he doesn’t get reelected because between this and fast and furious, we are well on our way to having EVERYTHING we need to impeach him once we have secured the Senate which seems VERY likely. He should do himself a favor and pull an LBJ but he isn’t that wise.
Clinton’s craft amazed me at times. One thing I was sure of was that he knew Machiavelli’s writings from cover to cover, forward and backward. After learning what they did at Castle Grande I knew that he planned WAYYYY forward and had the patience of the Chinese.
Waco was his “fear me” move - as Machiavelli advised. Darn, I wonder what the Obamanauts are thinking now.

Of course, now that Holder's got all the paperwork and computer hard drives, it'll remain a mystery.
I’d like to know if this is being spun as an eeeeevil GOP scheme to trap the almighty Obamination and make him look the villain (that he is)? How long will it be before the press starts discovering “new and surprising” evidence that Solyndra had deep GOP ties?
Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg, etc.,etc.,etc.....right alongside the politicians money.
Time for the press to quit sitting on their hands...
Ponzie schemes fall apart when they cannot find another stooge. Solyndra went through private investors, Obama, Chu, Biden, Pelosi, the DNC ... now taxpayers are screwed.
