Christie has his own problems doesn’t he?
—Christie has his own problems doesnt he?—
This is the problem with a lot of the nay-saying about ANY candidate. Whenever people in 2008 said Sarah was not qualified I said, “compared to whom?” It is all relative. Perry may be a poor conservative compared to someone like Sarah, but he is way more conservative than Romney or Christie. But then, just being conservative is not our litmus test. I’ve met plenty of conservatives sitting on bar stools, but that doesn’t mean they should be president.
Frankly, doing well in these debates doesn’t matter to me much either. A huge gaffe would matter, but it is the leaders opportunity to lose. They are only good for those that need any and all exposure they can get. I’ll have to review the video and see exactly what major error(s) Perry made before I can chime in on his performance, but the key is in that last word: Performance. Which is how I see these debates.
The only thing that can really come out of a debate that is of substance is for one of the candidates to screw up REALLY, REALLY bad in the old “is you is or is you aint my constit’ency?” thing from Oh Brother Where Art Thou. You remember, the “I belong to a secret organization. I don’t think I need to mention the name here” sort of thing.
Did Perry do anything like that? And deer in the headlights doesn’t really count. Stammering is WAY better than saying something just plain wrong or offensive.
Not if you want to build a mosque at Ground Zero.
