“And I think Christy would not announce reconsideration had Perry performed competently in the third debate.”

If the Newsmax story reporting this is true, it would not surprise me if the “billionaires” referred to are certain kingmakers that prompted Perry to jump in by telling him they would back him if he can win the primary, and they did that primarily because they have no confidence Romney would beat the Demo nominee in the general election. So, now that Perry seemingly hurt himself in the debate, and may not be the alternative to Romney, maybe these same “billionaires” are turning to Christie? And, why Christie?

Perhaps so.

One counterpoint: the billionaire’s club, whoever that is, can’t just get together on a whim.

I think it might have been a different group that pushed Perry early, and some of those were socially conservative.

This group is probably the fiscally conservative but socially indifferent/liberal group. Perry’s social conservatism frightens them.

One thing the Perry billionaires and the Christy billionaires agree on, though: Romney is not a conservative and doesn’t contrast strongly enough to obama. They would be right, if that is their reasoning.

(me, personally, I am scared to death about not defeating obama....he has got to be defeated. I’d support Gerald Ford if I thought he was definitely the man to do the job, because obama has got to go. In an ideal world, I would like to replace him with the most conservative candidate, of course...but that is gravy. replacing obama is simply essential)
