Herman Cain has been talking about his 9-9-9 economic recovery plan for two weeks now, but he hasn't given up the names of anyone in what he jokingly calls his " Economic Secret Kitchen Cabinet." That is, until now.

Cain told Fox News that economist and former assistant to the director of the Office of Tax Analysis for the U.S. Treasury Gary Robbins analyzed and scored his plan.

"...the analysis shows that his plan will "initially create 6 million jobs and that it will bring the unemployment rate down initially to about half of what it is today."

This guy would probably be the best president among the contenders. This proposal is a real game changer.

He is the best we have running right now. I’m still holding out for Sarah, but of she says “NO!”, then I support Cain.

Awful idea. You don’t ever introduce a new tax. It’s easy to raise taxes, much harder to get a new one.

What happens when congress decides income tax needs to be 15% and national sales tax needs to be 20% and corporate taxes need to be 25%?

Read my lips...

“....then I support Cain.”

He is still my first choice. The first time I heard him speak earlier this year, I caught when he said, “I am a true African American.” As White American, I thought of Martin Luther King talking about this man. One of the leaders must choose him for running mate, I pray.

I really like what Cain is saying. He’d be great for domestic policy - as I recall he needs tutoring on foreign policy.

that’s why the intro of the tax is coupled with the repeal of the 16th amendment.

If that’s the case, then ok. I’m not sure how you have an income tax without the 16th ammendment. It then becomes unconstitutional.

The blog doesn’t get into specifics.

I don’t post every Cain article in Frontpage, just the ones I think are newsworthy. Why wouldn’t an article where Herman Cain’s tax plan was scored be news? He is a candidate for President of the United States and his plan is revolutionary. The fact that it would cut unemployment in half is NEWS.

It’s not like I gunk up the news thread, I post once a day and typically put 4 or 5 news articles about Cain in each thread I post.

The RINOS have the media in their back pocket, the conservatives only have social media and forums, word of mouth and such. You would think that Free Republic would champion the cause of the conservatives in this race - I have no idea why any big news relating to Cain or Bachmann wouldn’t be Frontpage news.

Herman Cain has been talking about his 9-9-9 economic recovery plan for two weeks now

A 9% income tax and a 9% sales tax on top of that means a maximum effective real tax of over 17% for those who spend all their income.

And you know there would still be zero income tax for a large group of people and something like the EITC for another group.

It’s temporary. Repeal of the 16th and Fair Tax within a year.

It is important to note, 9% income tax minus charitable donations. If you don’t like giving your money to gov’t, give it to your church or favorite charity.
