You’re talking about native carp, not the invasive species. I’ve only eaten smoked carp (native, and kind of greasy).
Asian carp are a different animal and don’t belong here. But now we’re screwed because they decimate the start of the food chain.
It kills me that Obama is happily doing all he can to destroy a major economic driver in the great lakes states.

I have a book that was my fathers. He was a commercial fisherman and went on to be the commercial fish law supervisor, Mi. DNR. The book by Commissioner McDonald goes into detail about the advantages of introducing carp into the Great lakes as a sport fish. The book is titled “THE 8TH REPORT TO THE COMMISSION” (Michigan).
The common carp is invasive also. It was brought here by German immigrants to Minnesota as a sport fish.
