From what I’ve seen, the carp will destroy the sport fishing industry in the Great Lakes if they get there in any numbers. And apparently they multiply like rabbits.

I hear they are served in some restaurants under the phony name “silver fin” - but actually I’ve heard they taste pretty good. Considering farm raised talapia is fed by the poop of farm raised striped bass - I guess anything can make it to the table....

Recycling, man, recycling. Anyone with a cat with an indoor litter box, and a dog, knows about this. To the dog, it's Tootsie Rolls.

They can't be commercially sold in any kind of amount due to the supposed mercury contamination. People should really be asking themselves why Illinois has so much control over the great lakes these days despite having a minimal stake in them.

Obama has stepped into the middle of the court fight between illinois and 5 other states along with Canada. He's appointed two czars and done all he can to help his Chicago buds.

There are Japanese companies that lead fishing tours here for Steelhead fishing at the Tippi Dam on the Manistee river.

While I do have some concerns about these Asian carp, I'm not so certain they will be the harbinger of destruction to our fishing industry here in Michigan that many are anticipating.

In fact, I would go so far as to predict that they will actually benefit the abundance of our existing game fish (trout, salmon, bass, walley, musky) and quite possibly take the pressure off the lesser game fish such as perch where there certainly seems to be a decline here in Lake St. Clair.........

I remember years ago when the zebra mussels invaded Lake St. Clair and the doom and gloom that accompanied them. While they took off astronomically and caused an initial problem, nature took over and they died down to a sustainable level and actually help clean the lake. The lake is now the cleanest it has ever been due to the zebra mussels filtering out the debris.........as well as being a food source for fish such as our perch.

If these Asian carp do make it into our great lakes system, I have full confidence that our ecosystem will be able to handle whatever problem they may attempt to make.............Nature can handle its own without assistance from us.
