Ah! A new “stream of revenue” for Obama’s reelection campaign and a means to control another segment of our economy.

There are two things I love.
Ending the day with a good laugh
And starting the day with a good laugh.

Thanks!

This will insure that government sponsored drugs will be approved long long before those of evil Pharma. Also government has access to all patents filed by drug companies. All my liberal buddies in the pharmaceutical industry should be getting a little nervous.

Horrific idea. It places the rabid-spending federal governement as relying upon increases in the prevalence of chronic diseases and decades of more ever increasing numbers of prescription medications for their revenue flow.

Guess who will experience more debilitating conditions across their lifetime???

Yep and what chances do we have that serious diseases would actually be cured (with no required future drug maintenance) rather than symptoms being treated with drugs for a peron’s entire lifetime.

Fascism-at-work ping

"His plan is for a new federal center inside the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that would be focused on the development and commercialization of new drugs. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) would engage in early drug-development work, eventually handing off programs to private companies for completion. In return, the government would take a guaranteed royalty stream on drugs that eventually made it to market....

...the president says his new drug center will complement the private sector. But to listen to him describe its activities is to understand the real intention."

Perhaps someone more well-versed in all things Constitutional, can advise me as to where exactly, the Constitution allows this? I just can't seem to find it. Of course, I'm reading the old, imperfect text. Perhaps I need the new, “living” text?
