Bass Pro Shops have developed a devoted following by packing cavernous stores full of rods and reels, camping and hunting gear, camouflageclothingandanimal trophy-heads.
Behind the scenes, the retailer discriminates in hiring, the government said in a lawsuit filed Wednesday.
Among the allegations: Bass Pro managers repeatedly refused to hire non-white workers as clerks, cashiers or managers, and used discriminatory language to explain their reasoning, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which filed its suit in federal district court in Houston.
For instance, the government alleged a Bass Pro human-resources executive told federal investigators that the assistant ...

Thanks! I was young and I am now grateful it happened because it made me realize that my ‘elders’ aren’t always to be respected and also that people lie. Period. I remember sitting there and listening to this middle age “manager” and thinking “How could I, a puny 20 year old, ever compete with his story?” Luckily the idiot went to an extreme that no one could buy.
And that’s why I think this is a load of crap. No one would be so stupid to admit to an investigator that they don’t hire ‘expletive.’
Not to mention I know a little info on Bass Pro Shop and their irritation/discourse with the Obama administration.
My grandpa told me when I was little that Black men
caught and smoked carp but he never told me how they
kept them lit..
I do all the time at the local mall here in Midlothian, Va. Location might be key as to what you see and where you see it. The shame of it all is despite black or white, none of the sales personnel seem to know much about what they are selling and that RS itself has dumbed its inventory down so much, that it is no longer a real electronics hobbyist store anymore!
I doubt these posters acting high and mighty go there anyhow
This thread illustrates quite well how insulated naive and peachy many freepers are about race
Notice the snotty comments about whites of my culture and hypocrites here who do it blissfully unaware of their own bigotry they bring so busy pointing fingers
You asked....enjoy
through no fault off your own I believe that to be the case with most who post here given their native and pollyanna "correct answer for 100" replies on race issues....as opposed to those who do not live in mostly white areas....i drove all over out west in june....between Kansas City and Montana and Wyoming and Utah and Idaho and Nevada and Arizona and the Dakotas over 2 weeks I saw maybe a dozen blacks.....but a lot of Indians and Mexicans that were hard to distinguish a bit
It’s Cabelas fault...never trust Nebraskans
Reality shock is going to be a lot tougher for them when the EBT accounts go to zero for good.
We just shopped there yesterday. Looks like we’ll be going back even sooner than we planned. Wahoo!
“How about this for a radical liberty idea: business owners can hire whoever they want for whatever reason they want - and for those who dont like who they hire - they are free to open their own businesses and hire who THEY want.”
That used to be the case, before we made Thought Crime part of American life, to be enforced by the courts.
IIRC Barry Goldwater opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act for precisely this sort of reason.
He believed, as conservatives used to, that politicians and the government had no business abrogating the right of Americans to do as they wished in their private lives and personal businesses. Something about ‘freedom of association’, a now out of date concept in the era of political correctness.
Today it seems that the majority of ‘conservatives’ are to the left of not only Goldwater, but of most liberal Democrats of 1964 when it comes to being politically correct on anything touching on race. It shouldn’t be long before Lyndon Johnson gets added to the pantheon of great conservative heros, right alongside MLK.
Their heads would explode if they read what National Review used to write on the subject in the 60s.
