Massachusetts Senate candidate and Wall Street "Enemy #1" Elizabeth Warren was caught on video last month decrying the GOP's charge that Democrats are engaging in "class warfare."
I hear all this, you know, Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever, Warren said. No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.
She goes on to describe how the "social contract" helps everyone.
You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didnt have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.
Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.

“I used to think Liz Warren was at least intelligent. Sheesh, what a misguided bitter class waring hag!”
The real problem is the people that vote for representatives like her.

True, but I NEVER thought THEY were intelligent!
she doesn’t think that businesses and their employees don’t pay taxes for those things?
Its what Utopian states do.
I prefer to work for the money rather than work to avoid a trip to the gallows.
‘she doesnt think that businesses and their employees dont pay taxes for those things?’
The left does not think of it that way. If you have a private business, and you profit at all, you are prospering in an illicit way. They ‘allow’ you to keep some of ‘their’ money.
she seems to think that these business owners did not pay taxes or match employee taxes while the were growing. If anything, businesses have pay forwarded more than their fair share. Lets talk about the 47% of people who do not pay taxes and get back more than they paid through earned income. Fair is fair!
“you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; “
you mean the rich paid to educate
“you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. “
you mean the rich paid for
“You didnt have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did. “
you mean the rich did
The “social contract” is the Constitution, and the laws based on it. “Pay It Forward” is commie-talk for “confiscate all we can get away with.”
I think she’s making the argument that everyone should have skin in the game and those who collect government benefits should pay them back when they get back on their feet.
Isn’t she?
It really does define the world view difference between them and us. she does not believe that private individuals have the right to engage in private transactions and then claim personal success.
Boy... Does she ever have that backward. Without entrepreneurs to provide the jobs that pay those taxes, there is no money for her precious government. Productive people can live just fine without government. Government, however, cannot live without productive people.
This might work in Massachusetts, the state that voted for McGovern in 1972 and which kept sending Teddy Kennedy back to the US Senate after he killed Mary Jo Kopechne.
Yeah but Scott Brown won by 5 points in January 2010
because of independents (largest group in MA) and Reagan Democrats.
Massachusetts voted for Reagan in 1984!!!! Remember????
Places like Billerica, Worcester and the Cape ain’t voting for Elizabeth
Warren.
Book it! Scott Brown 2012. Jim DeMint for Senate Leader or Bust.
The only things that have ever increased under government control are the size of government (with no correlation to efficiency or effectiveness) and poverty (which has a direct correlation to the size of government). Every thing else that they touch turns to sh!t!
Some people put in the effort required to use those tools to produce wealth, and some don't.
