Fullerton police officers charged in death of Kelly Thomas have made their first court appearance. Cpl. Jay Cicinelli pleaded not guilty today to charges of involuntary manslaughter and use of excessive force. He was released on $25,000 bail and is due back in court November 4. Arraignment for Fullerton Officer Manuel Ramos was continued until Monday. He's being held on $1 million bail.
Thomas' father asked that bail not be reduced based on the "horrific way my son was murdered."
Both officers have been ordered by the court not to be in possession of firearms.

The good citizens of Fullerton stood up for justice and had they not helped this family, no justice would have been seen.
All of those cops involved need to be charged. They were all accessories and need to be brought to justice for a jury to decide. None of them should be on the streets. They are as dangerous as any gang out there.
Heard the entire charges by the DA and no question about the evidence. Talk about a cop out of control.
There’s been a political backlash too, expressed in an ongoing attempt to recall the mayor and two city council members who sided with the occifers. And the beat-ee wasn’t even black.

Kelly didnt even commit a crime. He was just hanging out, at the bus station, looking for cigarette butts to smoke.
And the cops knew this! They knew Kelly. They knew he was unarmed. And 4 other cops that watched Kelly being beaten to the death, after he had stopped moving, just stood there, and did nothing.
the charges should have been murder
They should all go to trial. They all were involved in a crime of murder.
The irony is that Kelly’s father trains cops in use of force when a detainee is resisting.
Really, it does not matter if Kelly committed a crime or not. Cops are not allowed to issue and carry out punishment, up to the death penalty, upon citizens who break the law.
They are allowed to protect themselves when their lives are threatened, but when they kill or torture someone it better be clear as a bell their lives were seriously threatened and that they had no other choice. In this case, Kelly did not present a threat to their lives. But a jury needs to hear this case and all involved should be standing trial for participating.
The good citizens of Fullerton stood up for the rule of law in this case and would not permit the city politicans and DA to cover up the murder. It would not have turned out like this had they not stood up.
Good. Thanks, I missed that.
