As bad news piles up for the Democrats, I asked a top Democratic strategist if it were possible that President Obama might “pull a Lyndon Johnson” and soberly face the cameras, telling America that he has decided that the demands of partisan politics are interfering with his efforts to right our economy and that he has decided to withdraw to devote full time to our recovery. His answer: “Yes. It’s possible. If things continue as they are and have not turned around by January, it is certainly possible.”
Just looking at Michelle Obama’s unsmiling face during her husband’s recent speech to Congress triggered an insight: These folks aren’t having fun anymore.
Obama, whose insistence on passing a healthcare law that the courts will probably throw out cost his party the House, will now cost his party the Senate too. Indeed, it is even possible that the Republicans win 60 seats.
Currently, there are strong Republican candidates in 12 seats now held by Democrats. All could win in a 10- to 15-point landslide (which is shaping up). They include: Virginia (George Allen), Florida (Adam Hasner), New Mexico (probably Rep. Steve Pearce), Montana (Rep. Denny Rehberg), North Dakota (Rep. Rick Berg), Nebraska (Jon Bruning), Missouri (Sarah Steelman would be the best), Michigan (Pete Hoekstra), Ohio (Josh Mandel would be best), Wisconsin (Tommy Thompson or one of the others), Pennsylvania (Tim Burns would be great) and Connecticut (Chris Shays — better than Linda McMahon).
If all win, the GOP is only one vote shy of the filibuster-proof 60-member majority in the Senate. The final seats could come if strong challenges shape up in West Virginia, New Jersey, Washington state, Minnesota and Maryland. And, with Obama this far behind, they probably will.

It’s possible, but things were entirely different in LBJ’s day ... there was endless rioting and protests in the streets. If it wasn’t race riots, it was anti-war protests that occasionally devolved into riot conditions. It was a really rough time. LBJ didn’t enjoy the undying loyalty of the press, either.
Unless the economy gets to the point where people are rioting, which isn’t impossible, especially in inner cities with high unemployment, I don’t see huge public protests of the late 60’s variety.

I think this is “rational Rat” wishful thinking. (Yes its difficult if not contradictory to use rational as an adjective to describe a Rat!)
If Zero resigns or is forced out by a primary loss, a certain reliable Rat voting block will stay home. And may stay home for some time! The Rat party will be branded racist (which they are!) and the “inner city” will riot because the white man took away their “Messiah”. The Rat crime syndicate know its far better he stay in and lose to the “evil racist” GOP. It fits their meme regarding the GOP rather then they force him out and have to explain it to their “inner city voting block”. I think they will take their lumps (if they are indeed coming!) and regroup.

I also think Barry will end up not running. By next March this economy will be even worse and if he isn’t being impeached for various crimes agains’t the state the Dem leadership will probably march up to the White Hut at some point and give him 2 choices.

But it's interesting to ponder what might happen should he get out of the race.
The only positive for us I can see is that Obama's stepping down would be an acknowledgement that liberal policies don't work. Remember, he's had high personal poll ratings, it's his policies-his propensity for class-warfare and crony-socialism that have him in retreat. Wouldn't this be a huge symbolic and meaningful defeat for liberalism itself?
His replacement would have to run away from his policies; what's left to garner the leftist base, that's not already fully discredited? I'm almost of the opinion that (she) would have to renounce Obama care. As an issue it has surely receded into the background, with so much more now to worry about, but that issue will be there November 2, 2012.
I'm not so sure the markets wouldn't experience an immediate upward tick, as his policies threaten more economic damage in the future.
If Obama doesn't step down, well, my dog is black, and he can prove he was born in the USA.
