The GOP is trying to rig the electoral college (Gigantic Barf and Hurl Alert!!!)

Like Poe’s purloined letter, the Republican plan to heist the 2012 presidential election sits before us in plain view. And going Poe one better, it is perfectly legal.

The first part of the strategy has been unfolding for months. Since the 2010 elections brought Republicans to power in numerous swing states, officials in many of those states have made it harder for minority, poor and young voters to cast their ballots. GOP governments have been curtailing early voting (in Ohio and Florida) and requiring voters to produce official photo-identification cards (in Wisconsin). In South Carolina, the poll tax lives again: Voters who want an official photo-ID card must present a passport or a birth certificate, neither of which can be obtained for free.

Hilarious. This dope is upset that the GOP is cracking down on voter fraud. Good luck selling this concept, Commie Pinko.

ANYTHING done that attacks vote fraud is opposed by Democrats.

The Race Card, the Elderly Card, and the Poor Card are all played immediately as an excuse for the Fraud of ACORN, Unions, and others.

Good! About time!

Everytime MSNBC does a segment on this I cheer, Of course liberal states like Maryland passing laws getting rid of the electoral college, or letting convicts (even of treason) vote, or early voting in Dem districts, or 'get out the Democrat vote' is not called 'rigging', its called Democracy, by libs on MSNBC.

If an election is rigged it won’t be the GOP that does it.

Thes people are desperate. They know Obama is going to lose and they are tying to set up an arguyment that the election is fixed.

Its fixed all right, Obama has fixed it so he will lose with his stupid Stimulus and Obamacare.

Hard to see what most of this has to do with the Electoral College. I realize that’s the governing system, but Republicans would presumably advocate the same things for local and state elections or if we had a national popular vote.

Since he spends most of his time attacking Pennsylvania for wanting to go to same logical electoral vote allocation system used in Maine (since 1972) and Nebraska (since 1992), I think I will write both my state legislators today asking that they pass it a.s.a.p.

Someone please explain to me how or why any voting age adult in this country doesn’t have a photo ID? Also someone please explain to me why it is that minorities are less likely to have a photo ID?

“Hard to see what most of this has to do with the Electoral College”

The part about “the drive to reduce voting among minorities and low-income citizens,” I mean. Obviously the part about tinkering with electoral votes relates to the electoral college.

“The electoral college, after all, was created out of a compromise so that Southern whites wouldn’t be outvoted by Northerners in the House of Representatives or in presidential elections.”

I generally allow for gross exaggeration, , and in partisan articles like this. But come on. You can’t tie *everything* to racism. Not everything is racist because it is less democratic. There were small states elsewhere than the South.

Well, can you blame him, since the left can only win through voter fraud?

In Michigan our secretary of state is trying to purge the dead and illegals from our voter rolls but neither the Social Security administration or INS will help.

I have actually beeb think about this for a long time. Several districts in Philadelphia reported more votes than they ahd registered voters and it came to me that with this system we could severely limit the damage that stuffing the ballots would do to a very small number of votes rather than affectig the whole state.

I would hope that we go ahead with this and limit the damage of ballot stuffing.

GASP! The Republican party is going through legal means to help their side gain an advantage in the next election!

Next from the Washington Post: PEPSI is going to try and sell MORE of their beverage than Coca Cola!

On the sports front, the football team from Green Bay will attempt to put more points on the board than their next opponent!

Meanwhile, Hussein and his cabal engage in crony capitalism and voter fraud, and the Washington comPost, ever eager to worship him, ignores his actions.

And how many people really don't have IDs? One time this came up, the Dems had to use some nuns in a cloistered convent as their poster children. The primary problem is the difficulty and expense in getting a second, third or fourth ID compared to merely registering to vote extra times along with the permanent photographic record formed when the same person's photo shows up in state records a half dozen times under different names.

When it came time to take my grandfather's license from him, my mother hauled him into the DMV, handed in the license and got a state ID immediately. It wasn't very tricky.
