First some studies. Some studies suggest that illegal immigrants annually cost the federal government $100 billion dollars. Illegal immigrants from Mexico, Central and South America have an average educational level of about the eighth grade and many studies confirm people with such low levels of education are on average a net loss to our economy. Maybe 50% of illegal immigrants work in the underground meaning the pay no taxes or payroll taxes. The monies earned in the US and sent home are a further drain on our economy. There are other costs brought about by uninsured drivers and by non English speaking immigrants.

There are many other problems associated with illegal immigrants. The problems are so numerous and far reaching that another Opeation Wetback is needed. Perry's actions on tuition for illegal immigrants and some of his statements on these matters provide little hope that if elected Perry would not follow through with meaningful steps to correct these problems.

Gov. Perry is truly blessed by the specter of those who stand against him.

I appreciate your efforts - you raise some excellent points in your comments. There is another related issue which I am surprised has not been raised in these discussions: the number of American killed each year by illegal aliens/immigrants.

I don't know what the current figures are, but back in 2006 when the political establishment, i.e. Dems, GOP, the media, all of them were pushing "comprehensive immigration reform", the number was 6000-8000 deaths per year, from causes ranging from drug gang turf wars, to regular murders for money, to deaths by illegal drunk drivers.

The point was made that illegals in this country killed more people each year than we had lost total in 9/11 or the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. The war totals have of course increased since then, but I believe the comparison would still be close.

It's also interesting to note that during that period when we were seeing frequent news stories of people and families killed by drunk illegal drivers, the media was also reporting the daily death count totals in the wars. Both types of news stories have largely disappeared for some reason.
