Herman Cain's Response to Obama's Call for More Taxes Best Among GOP Presidential Candidates'

As expected, the GOP presidential contenders criticized and blistered President Barack Obama's speech, to which he was nearly twenty minutes late, in which he proposed increased taxes as part of his overall economic plan.

Businessman Herman Cain's response and statement stood out as the most effective and powerful among all the candidates because it did what few statements and responses do -- actually respond Obama's words.

In his speech, Obama said that his proposals did not represent "class warfare" and were more reflective of solid math.

Cain seized upon those words and cited his degree in mathemathics and how he applied that degree throughout his career at the Department of the Navy and in the private sector.

By doing so, Cain was more effectively able to criticize Obama's grasp of math and his eagerness to "punish the private sector" while undermining Obama's argument that his proposals did not amount to class warfare.

I still like Cain and consider him the dark horse to win. His 999 plan should be looked at more closely and debated.

He’s a good man. Go Cain! Keep selling the math degree. :)

Indeed on the math degree - he should keep selling that PLUS all of that private enterprise experience - just by saying that he draws such a refreshing distinction between him and Obama - who has neither experience but goes around running his mouth about “math.”

Excellent! I was very impressed with Cain in the last debate. There is a presence and maturity about him that few of the other candidates possess.

I like Cain, too, but to say he used his expertise in mathematics to expose Obama’s “plan” is disingenuous, if not plain wishful thinking.

Read his response. Cain says he has a degree in mathematics (which nicely juxtaposes against Obama’s claim that his “plan” is all about the math), but then he scores Obama’s “plan” on NON-MATHEMATICAL grounds.

Here’s the real reason Obama’s tax increase scenario must be rejected: increased tax revenue will NOT be used to reduce the deficit or the debt; it will simply result in even more government intrusion.

That is not what the article is claiming. Here is what it said about his reference to his math background: "Cain seized upon those words and cited his degree in mathemathics and how he applied that degree throughout his career at the Department of the Navy and in the private sector." It also talked about how Cain contrasted Obama's ignorance in math and economics with his own expertise in the subjects.
