Many farmers and ranchers sold their herds due to the drought. The corn, milo and cotton crops were severely impacted as well. When the food for chickens, hogs and beef is less than 50% of normal, prices will skyrocket.

I haven't heard about peanut crops, but imagine that was affected too. Many local producers of fruit and vegetables were also affected. I'll bet the pecan crop will be less than 75% of normal.

I heard peanut butter is due for a 30% increase in price by the end of October. If I recall the price increase is due to drought.

Peanut crop was subpar. Prices for peanut butter slated to rise 30% in November.
