Tea Party leaders confronted Rick Perry in his own back yard calling on him to use his power as governor to crack down on illegal immigration. JoAnn Fleming, chair of the Tea Party Caucus Advisory Committee of the Texas Legislature said, "The ball is in Gov. Perry's court. He needs to make a decision. He's running out of time." Perry favors giving in-state tuition to certain illegal immigrants which has put him at odds with many Tea Party activists. Ken Emmanuelson, a Dallas Tea Party activist, said Perry should issue an executive order overturning a Texas Department of Public Safety policy that they say has turned Texas into something of a sanctuary state. Tea Party activists are promising to hold Perry's feet to the fire over illegal immigration. Perry has been a vocal foe of a long border wall and said in 2001 he was "intrigued and open" to an amnesty proposal for Mexican workers made by George Bush. Perry's chief opponent, Mitt Romney, vetoed a similar in-state tuition bill when governor of Massachusetts, saying it would provide incentives to illegal immigrants.

Bump.
Slander, you have no ideal what the word means, and damn sure are in the dark as to when it occurs. But you have demonstrated your like of formal education.
That is my take too.
I know there are some on here for which immigration is a deal breaker. I can respect that.
For me though, I would rather have a guy who I agree with on 98% of the issues (and then try to hold his feet to the fire on immigration), than a guy who I agree with on about 20% of the issues.
If Perry is knocked out, then I think it almost guarantees a Romney nomination. That frightens me to no end.
Oh, believe me, it will come up in the debates.
The idea we can’t build a fence is a bunch of crap
Think about it. Where would this fence be on the Texas border? Unlike kalifornia and Arizona and Nuevo Mexico, Our Texas border is in the middle of the river. You think they’d be able to build a fence in the the middle of the Rio Grande? Maybe Mexico would let us build a fence on their side of the Rio Grande? Don’t think so, so that leaves it on our side, all but a smidgen is private land. Would you want to have to give up your land and access to the river for some fence the coyotes will cut the second night its up, just like they do everywhere else?
The answer isn’t a fence, the best solution is to remove the super attraction, jobs. No jobs, no welfare (by the way the Fed Gov constantly recruits illegals to sign up for all the programs). The drug smugglers, just shot em swimming the river, problem solved.
Show me where I am wrong.
>>> “ Perry didnt do this in a vacuum.” <<<
Thank you for mentioning the above FACT. Not every illegal is a gun totin’, anchor baby plottin’, drug runnin’, welfare suckin’ Mexicans who are raping out economy. These college students are illegal and need to pay up and pay off, but then should be counted among those who might earn citizenship. After all, our government enforced nothing for decades. Perry is about controlling the border, immigration numbers and enforcement. The laws are already on the books.
I wonder if the illegal kids are going to be promoted to college ahead of American kids and I wonder if they will be getting lots of scholarships from the big leftist foundations? Look at what happened to those firefighters who were denied promotions to those who scored far lower scores on their tests? Welcome to the new America—back of the line whitey.
“Intrigued and open to amnesty”?
It’s really starting to get past the point where I can even hold my nose and vote for this guy.
There’s more to this than meets the eye. Perhaps Romney campaign mischief at play.
The paulnutz post from the SOROS funded TxTrib because that’s the only place they can get made up smear fodder. Anyone posting or quoting from the TxTrib knows who they are dealing with, no innocents use that rag.
Now, they all claim to be sweet little Bachmann or Palin fans, its just a cover they hide under because everyone recognizes paulnutz for the skunks they are.
1% of those eligible for the Tx Dream act actually use it.
Texans arent being displaced.
The entire site is anti Perry!
Isn’t it amazing how many “conservatives” suddenly find a Soros funded attack rag to be post-worthy?
Obama has been/is working on removing jobs. After all the jobs are gone and the illegals leave we can build the fence. Should work.
There is a high bar to participate in the Tx Dream act.
You have to have the grades
You have to have gotten them in Tx schools
You have to have been in Tx for at least 3 years
You have to PROVE that you are actively working toward US citizenship.
AND you have to PAY for it.
But you have demonstrated your ‘like’ of formal education.
Your a hoot whodat.
It is beyond ridiculous.
Now go hug and illegal.
You are definately on a roll!!
CA has the fence and the place is swimming with illegal aliens.
I know. I used to live there.
Our Illegal problem isn’t going to change until Mexico changes.
People will risk everything including jail if the alternative is abject poverty.
There is NO reason for Mexico to be so dirt poor other than their own corrupt government.
No FR is not anti-Perry. What you see on all Perry threads is the same as you see at any of the public forums or strawpolls, the paulnutz act as a whole, scream and holler louder to SEEM like a majority. Most pro-Perry Freepers get worn out with the constant paulnut attacks and just don’t challenge them, I think its great fun to poke fun at them. No need to try to reason with a one of them, just let em rant like the crazies they are.
Hang in there Perry knows how to run for office. I.E. Bachmann going way overboard with the outlandish Gardisil rant, which looks to have caused her to poll at 5% now. In the last Texas Governor debate, an undercover ronpaul libertarian running as a Pubbie tried very similar stuff against Perry. He played the rope-a-dope until she took the bait and admitted in the denate to being a ronpaul supporter and a Truther. Ran her right into the ditch, from Miss Fav to zero in 15 minutes.
Perry is a conservative, a practical and effective conservative. How else would he get re-elected to more terms than any previous Governor in very conservative Texas?
