Police are most responsive in two circumstances: “policeman down”, and “rape in progress”. If you absolutely, positively must have police there now, this is what you tell them on the phone.

Which is why concealed carry is more important than ever.

Yeah, I can see how that might get a reaction. I can’t imagine them giving a crap about a rape though...unless there’s a chick cop handy. Guys hate having to deal with that crap.

Even in easy shall-issue states (PA has no training requirement, and application fee is just $25), less than 5% of adults get a license, and just a fraction of that number carry habitually.

People need to understand that the police are NOT likely to be there when you need help. As this story illustrates, even when they ARE there, they might choose to not "get involved".
