Kind of reminds me of the ‘idiotic’ PETA group demanding Fishkill NY change its name to anything other than a name that promotes the killing of fish.
Which may (or may not) be commendable, but for the Dutch that settled there, ‘Kill’ meant body of water, not slay, so, in essence, the PETA PFOOLS are against ‘honoring’ a place that keeps fish alive.
There’s a street in Virginia Beach, VA called Witch Duck. The name dates back to colonial times when women accused of witchcraft were ducked under water to determine whether or not they were witches. I assume if they drowned that proved they were not witches. Are witches offended by the name?
