Arabs Warn: We’ll Personally Prevent ‘Price Tag’ Operations

Palestinian Authority Arabs warned on Friday that they will personally stop any ‘price tag’ operations by Jews residing in Judea and Samaria.

A report in the PA-based WAFA news agency said, “The popular committees set up by Palestinians in the villages near Shechem in order to protect their property and the lives of citizens from the settlers, were able to arrest nine settlers who tried to enter the village of Kusra which recently suffered from harassment and arson of its mosque.”

The report was referring to the torching of a mosque in the village last week. The attack on the mosque came several hours after police destroyed three Jewish homes at Migron in the middle of the night.

The report said the nine Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria were released after they were warned not to try to enter the village again. The report went on to claim that one of the Jews fired at five PA Arabs, wounding one of them seriously, and fled along with his friends.

This report was not confirmed by any other sources, but WAFA claimed that one of its photographers who arrived to document the goings on, said that large IDF forces reached the outskirts of the village, blocking the entrance and firing tear gas at the residents. This has not been confirmed elsewhere, either.

The governor of Shechem, Jibril Al-Bakri, said the area residents will continue to defend themselves and personally stop Jews from entering their villages.

“Unfortunately we are warning of the settler’s attacks, but the army and the government do not do anything to put an end to the aggression by settlers,” he said, noting that following the wave of attacks on Arabs by Jews, the Shechem governorate decided to establish and maintain committees whose role is to protect... .....

The Jews were taking “revenge” for the actions of the Israeli police.

The attack on the mosque came several hours after police destroyed three Jewish homes at Migron in the middle of the night.

My understanding is that these were Israeli police.

What the Israeli response should be is something so terrible that the Arabs would be afraid to ever do it again.

The mosque attack was in response to acts by the Israeli police, not by Palestinians.

It may or may not be applicable in the way you describe it but to the Jews losing their homes because of what they see as attempted appeasement, by their government, of a sworn enemy that wants to extirminate them...the concept is very appropriately applied.

Nonsense. The Palestinians did not destroy those homes and you and numerous other posters on this thread are being either foolish or dishonest.

You are right. It was Israeli police who destroyed the Israeli homes. From another article (http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/147549), it seems that the residents were dealt with underhandedly:

Revenge actions sometimes have taken place after government actions against a Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria. The demolition of three Jewish homes in Migron, in Samaria, took place in the middle of the night and after an unusual nighttime appeal to the judicial system to overturn a temporary injunction against the destruction.

The government action particularly incensed nationalists because the High Court told Defense Minister Ehud Barak last June that the entire Migron community must be demolished but not until March 2012.

Migron was built with the approval of the Israeli government, and appeals for its demolition were filed by Jewish leftists claiming that the land belongs to Arabs, even though the owners are not identifiable. The court recognized that the land was parcelled out by Jordan and as such is not state land.

It seems that there is a violent struggle going on between the conservative and leftist Jews in Israel. I didn't realize that their differences had come to this.

It is testimony to the intense irrationality of leftism that there are leftist Israeli ideologues demanding concessions from such a vulnerable country as Israel in an attempt to mollify such an implacable foe as Islam.
