Worries about climate probably peaked in 2007. But in 2008 the economic crisis hit. To quote political scientist Roger Pielke Jrs iron law: When policies focused on economic growth confront policies focused on emissions reductions, it is economic growth that will win out every time. In fact, Pielke, who teaches at the University of Colorado, thinks the pre-2008 talk about action was mostly just talk anyway.
Nowadays few societies even pretend to be doing anything anymore. The Copenhagen global summit on climate in 2009 flopped.
No big state is doing enough about climate change. For the planet, it barely matters whether Barack Obama or Rick Perry wins next years US election. Obama wont stop climate change either. Ordinary people sense the cause is lost.
We journalists are dropping the topic too. The environment bores readers. Almost everyone has given up.

Almost everyone ...
Not me,
I’m back down on Maslow’s first two tiers.
Not that I ever gave a flying $hit about Glow Bull Swarming.
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference."
Mostly Big Media morons like Simon Kuper.
After the Solendrya scandal, we finally know what Globull warming was about. Companies worldwide linked to the left robbed America of billions of dollars to fund leftist campaigns to win office and take control of peoples lives.
There no longer is any doubt. We just have to follow the money to the right people.
What is Agenda 21?
indiginous people don't care about the preservation of the rainforest when they are starving to death.
He’d be cooler if he lost weight.
My first reaction was Simon Kuper is stuck on stupid.
I love the author’s subtle approach...climate change is really there, and darn it, we’re gonna let the poor people suffer ‘cuz we’re bad/lazy/etc.
To this I reply, “Oh undereducated journalist, get thee to some science courses, idiot. These climate change zealots know about as much about physics as Obama knows about economics (or law, or philosophy, or anything).”
I am waiting for someone to put the cuffs on these liars.
Translation: let's hope people forget about what we were saying before the next Little Ice Age becomes noticeable.
The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the total stranger, ‘What would you like to talk about?’
‘Oh, I don't know,’ said the congressman. ‘How about global warming or universal health care’, and he smiles smugly.
OK, ‘ she said. ‘Those could be interesting topics. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?’
The legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, ‘Hmmm, I have no idea.’
To which the little girl replies, ‘Do you really feel qualified to discuss global warming or universal health care when you don't know sh!t?
Why worry about dying from Goreball Warming when ya know Obamacare will kill you first.
Nice! LOL
I didn't forget, in the 70s, it was global cooling. It's cyclical, global coolings turn next.
