I don’t know if you’re right, but I do know “hitting at what you aim” sounds stupid...
I do have a Masters in English but that is meaningless. As one of my professors stated - if it sounds wrong it is wrong. You, as a native English speaker are more important than any dictionary or grammar book or a guy with an MA in English. Trust yourself and you will be correct 99% of the time because you are a native English speaker and you represent the grammar as it is now spoken and not the other way around.
I agree with you completely. I tried my best to get “hitting at what you aim” to sound OK and it just does not. “Hit what you aim at” is perfect English as spoken by native speakers.
I have had serious reservations about Rick Perry. Is he for real or is he just playing how we want him to play so he can get elected. I have no doubts about Herman Cain or even Newt (although he does not excite me). Romney is IMHO pure Grade F RINO. I wonder if he can hit what he aims at?
