I haven't followed Palin since around 2009 when I was diagnosed with synchronous ovarian and breast cancer and was down for about a year with treatments and surgeries. Since recovering, I have been working to get my life back, my research (history) going again, and have not had time to follow her or any other politician all that closely. I live in Texas so have, of course, heard the news on Perry.

Yes, I really teach history at a university in Texas. I'm the conservative "nut" in a department full of deranged liberals. I am a Perry supporter because I know him personally. He was a family friend and my dad worked with him closely in Austin until he died. I know Rick's family. I know his wife's family. His wife's dad delivered me. They are all such good people.

If Palin were to get in the race tomorrow -- and she won't -- I would continue to support Rick. I believe he is the best candidate for the job. But if Palin were to win the nomination, I would be her biggest supporter -- bar none -- using my influence in the classroom as much as possible to counterbalance the Obama propaganda that will inevitably flow like puke through the halls of academia.

Please accept my sincerest wishes that you remain cancer free ( if you are now ) for many, many years; however, please don't use your past illnesses and treatments as an excuse! You aren't the only poster here who has ever gone through a serious illness, some have gone through more multiple ones and still have managed to sort of keep up.

You have made, on this thread alone, quite a few rather uneducated, even stupid comments, stated as facts, which they aren't and never were.

Soooooooooooo................you stopped paying attention to Palin in '09, as I guessed at and claimed that she "lost you" when she began to make big money AND take on candidates? Well, snookums, in '09, the ONLY candidate, in view, was.................................BARRY OBAMA !

You didn't like it that she took on wee Barry ? REALLY?

Just because you "know" Perry and his family, doesn't mean that he's a good/better than Palin candidate.

I don't live in Texas, but I'm beginning to get the distinct impression that I know more about him and his positions, than you do.

Nope, should Palin win the GOP presidential nomination, you will NOT be her "biggest supporter"; not by a long shot !

Here's a very simple hint ( and one that you must not take as an insult, as it is given with kindness ).........: don't talk about things you truly do not know about/are unsure of. That will save you a lot of grief!

Sorry to hear about your health problems.
I am for Sarah #1 but as of now I am glad Perry is in the race too. If SP cant beat Perry, then she doesnt deserve the shot at Obozo. And vice versa for Rick. There is some concern that Rick and Sarah split and let Romney squeak by, but I hope there is enough common ground between them, neither would let that happen.
