Everybody who's heard Johnny Cash's classic live album "At Folsom Prison" remembers the audience of convicts erupting in bloodthirsty whoops when the singer growled out the line "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die." According to Cash's biographer Michael Streissguth, however, it never actually happened. A studio engineer created the chilling moment by...(snip)

I didn’t make it very far into the article before I got out. I was worried about getting poodle piss on my shoes.
It did, however, encourage me to change my tagline.
It is to craugh, or maybe to ly. Would it that Rick Perry wanted a “great wall of Texas.” It’s more like he winks at the sanctuary policies of places like Houston.
I like it!
Rick Perry the goat roper.
Salon thread? Why not post more of the marxist drivel:
“Alas, the cheers that broke out among a well-heeled Republican audience last week at the mention of Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s execution of 234 convicts at a recent GOP presidential debate were all too real. Such is their anger and alienation that they’d gladly drag us back to the 19th century, when public hangings competed with traveling Wild West shows as popular entertainment.”
If it takes heads of murderers on pikes at city gates to stop the violence against innocent people, and the blood running in the streets from the drug wars, fine.
If it takes public hangings to stop the crimes against Texas citizens, fine.
The rest of the USA can coddle their murderers all they want but here in Texas we want them graveyard dead as soon as possible.
How about getting serious about shutting out the influx of a demographic group — illegales from Mexico and other Latin American countries — which brings a disproportionate amount of deadly crime to Texas? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I totally agree with you. And so does Rick Perry:
“Governor Rick Perry billed the Obama Department of Homeland Security for $350 million to cover costs of imprisoning illegal aliens.
The AP reported:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has asked the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to reimburse the state $350 million to cover costs of imprisoning illegal immigrants.”
In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the top-tier Republican presidential candidate blamed the federal government for not securing the border with Mexico, allowing illegal immigrants to cross over and use taxpayer-funded resources. He said resources for county jails are being depleted as a result.
Perry included in the letter the formula he used to determine the costs and included a memo from state Comptroller Susan Combs supporting his calculations.”
Aww, don’t mess up a good smear campaign with pesky facts.
Groveling apology, sometimes I cheat.
Perry called a Special Session to try to force the legislature to do something about Texas cities with policies like Houston’s. The legislature failed to do anything. He did get a strong voter ID law through, though.
OT: When is that creep Nidal Hasan going to get his?
Hasan is being tried by the Military, not Texas.
I’m so glad an article was Salon was posted.
That is where I always go to get insight. /s
“poodle pee on my shoes”
Needed a good laugh.
The idiot Lyons cites LBJ as an example of someone who brought prosperity to Texas. LBJ threw trillions of dollars of tax-payer money down the toilet through his welfare programs and helped create a government dependency among Blacks that exists to this day. What a maroon.
