They are lightly armed with rifles and pistols. But there are at least two military bases close at hand where I live, and most Israelis are also veterans. Even the over-seventy crowd might have served in the Jewish underground before 1948. Mainly, though, G-d watches over us.

I can believe lots of Israeli oldsters have combat experience.
I read that Dr Ruth Westheimer was a sniper in the IDF.
She looks different today but I bet she can still shoot!
