hashtag - someone please explain this to an old goat FReeper. I monitor twitter mainly to follow some news tweets. I see a lot of @’s and #’s but don’t really know what it represents.


Use “@” when you want to send a message to another Twitter user. For example: @BarackObama - where’s your REAL birth certificate? With that, you just sent a Tweet to the Dumb Bastard.

Use # to create a hashtag. With this hashtag you can look up numerous Tweets under one name (tag) for example, #attackwatch (by the way, the hashtag has no spaces. Underscores are fine but no spaces. The second you type in a space, the hashtag ends. )
