.....I think his position is the same as yours, as he gave a passionate defense of government intervention in this matter when his will was overruled by the Texas legislature. But his recent walkback is ambiguous, and I think may lead some people to the conclusion that he believes this vaccine should not be mandated by the government.

Please give me a link to this.

I'm not sure if you are looking for his passionate defense of the mandate as government policy, or his "admits mistake" walkback, so am providing both.

Gov. Rick Perry's Remarks Regarding the HPV Vaccine Legislation - May 05, 2007

Rick Perry Admits Mistake on Gardasil-HPV Vaccine Decision - Aug 15, 2011

"I agreed with their decision. I don't always get it right, but I darn sure listen," he said of the legislature responding to his decision.

"One of the things I do pride myself on, I listen. When the electorate says, `Hey, that's not what we want to do,'" Perry told Houston's ABC affiliate on Monday. "We backed up, took a look at what we did. I understand I work for the people, not the other way around. There was a better way to do that, I realize that now."

Mindful that the legislature rejected the mandate; Perry's remark that "I agreed with their decision" and "I don;t always get it right" might signal, to some people, that he has changed his position with regard to mandating the vaccine. On the other hand, his remarks can also be read as apologetic for obtaining the mandate via EO, of "an error in not having a conversation with the people of the state of Texas" before implementing the mandate.
