Phil Tetlock and Barbara Mellers were in a race against time to save their 15-year-old daughter, Jenny. As I reported last summer, Jenny developed a degenerative muscle disease nearly two years ago, soon after being vaccinated against the cervical-cancer-causing HPV. She became nearly completely paralyzed, though her mind was perfectly intact and she could still enjoy her pet parakeet, Hannah Montana, and Twilight.
I've been E-mailing Phil regularly over the past year, and up until our last E-mail, one week ago, he had been holding out hope that they would be able to find a cure for his daughteror to at least determine if the human papillomavirus vaccine called Gardasil had caused his daughter's illness, most likely a juvenile form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (aka Lou Gehrig's disease). Sadly, the clock ran out last Sunday, and Jenny passed away.

Agreed.
Btw, I thought that Bachmann's performance was very good at Monday's debate, and I've never been a fan. I didn't expect it, but I was impressed.
I still support Sarah, however. She's the best. I also thought that Cain did well, and I find myself liking his thoughtfulness and maturity more and more.
I'm thinking that a Palin/Cain or Palin/West ticket might work. I like Rubio too. Bachmann might be a good VP for someone, but I'm not sure at this point that she would be a good choice for Sarah. We shall see.
I ignored the debate. lol
Perry will not win with conservatives on this issue.
And we had big, long threads about Gardasil. I remember that Smith/Glaxo/Kline was going for approval and pulled back in order to do more studies. Merck jumped in and got approval before their studies were complete.
I don't see the FDA as a truly responsible government run watchdog.
This is going to be a bloody campaign.
Yes it is. The left is going to pull out all the stops. They’ll even manufacture stuff. Obama doesn’t intend to lose.
Perry didn’t write the rules, just used them to the benefit of Texans.
Don’t blame him for medicare and social security and the way the feds fund healthcare into the states.
Don’t blame him for rules stating what insurance will cover and won’t cover.
He just used the rules to get cancer preventing medicines to those who wanted them and may not have been able to afford them.
Can you seriously find fault with that? Would you have done differently?
I expect massive voter fraud. Intimidation at polling places. Violence. It’s going to be ugly.
iT’S SO DISGUSTING—THE GOVERNMENT USING INNOCENT CHILDREN AS GUINEA PIGS!
bACHMANN IS RIGHT.
pERRY IS WRONG. hIS ACTIONS ON gARDASIL ARE AN ALBATROSS AROUND HIS NECK.
bUH-BYE, pERRY!
(Darn caps lock...I’m not doing it over.)
Why yes, I do fault him for that.
He admitted it was a mistake and this is a nothing issue to me.
What about all the other, non std granted, vaccines which are required for school? nobody harps on those.
NV and NY9 told them what to expect in 2012. They’ll be prepared.
“He admitted it was a mistake..”
So why do Perry supporters keep defending Gardisil?
Where does a health insurance get 'its' money? Do you think like some do of Obama, that he is going to give them some of his stash? Do you know why there was the first dumping of government TEA? Do you really want King Perry deciding who gets taxed/mandated for the better good?
Because IF that is what you accept there is NO need for an election we have all that in office right now.

Excellent question.
