Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.
"I knew there was something to it," Palin said of learning while she was Alaska's governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. "Now we're finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism."

(Sometimes I have to remind myself I really like Palin - it’s her kool aid drinkers that bug me.....)
Amen. Perry's a hell of a lot better than Romney; Palin, if she runs, will be a hell of a lot better than Perry. Other red flags in vetting Perry: 12 years AFTER he became a Republican, he signed a the James Byrd Hate Crims act, saying, "With my signature today, Texas now has stronger criminal penalties against crimes motivated by hate." I have to wonder ... did Perry think that if the animals who deliberately dragged poor James Byrd to death behind their pick-up truck had been black, or if they had been motivated by halucinogenic drugs, that they should have faced weaker criminal penalties?
Perry's stand was the antithesis of conservative principle on that one. I can forgive him for it, but ... it's still there, still a red flag, still an indicator that Perry lacks as firm a grasp as I'd like on conservative principle. Same with his speaking to the purely racist organization La Raza, when I think any right politician would have told them to pound sand.
Oh, maa-aaa-aaan, that's PRICELESS!!! Group hug!!! {^)
Good on ya, Norm!!! Well said!!!!
Ah, you misunderstand what opt-out means and Texas law.
This - “the government will then review your case and make its final decision.” is not how it works. You fill the form, you are DONE. I had to sign about 10 pages of forms when my kid was going to school. Permissions for this and that, opt out for ROTC recruiting, allowing them to give aspirin, etc. ITS JUST ANOTHER FORM. Govt doesnt make the decision, the parent does. End of story.
It’s like this: You get a tax bill, and if you sign a form, you dont get to pay it. “Taxes” with an optout are voluntary, not taxes at all really. So too with mandates.
And btw, if you are not from Texas, check your own state’s laws. They probably dont have as much opt-out liberty as Texas does.
Your argument is not liberty, but convenience. You have yet to explain why your preference for convenience in exercising your choice should override the thousands of lives that would be lost due to lower vaccination rates. Did you read the California whooping cough story? Are you going to have the guts to answer my questions earlier?
” There are a few misguided, very passionate folks, that say they are, but when it comes down to it, they will support whomever is the (R) nominee, and so will I. “
It is painfully obvious that we are all passionate. And I appreciate your scolding. I have not used ad homenim attacks, I don’t believe. The facts on the ground speak for themselves and there is little need to get personal. I hope I have not gone personal. I also hope you are correct, that these folks will get behind Rick, or we will all be living with Romney.
It is unhelpful to have a candidate who can not keep us on the same page by sharing his command of the issues, the tools to properly defend him on the facts of the case against him, one by one, as they come up. It goes to his competency to lead and our ability to defend him while he is leading.
I am not using circular logic to see clearly that we have threads here today that are off in the weeds, ignoring Obama, because we are left without enough information to properly defend Rick and battle against the bots of all stripes, who are on here today bashing Rick, promoting some yahoo candidate, or yaking about some other non-candidate’s high principles. Was “yahoo” ad homenim? Maybe I do use such devices. Hmm.
Like the snark tag, it would be helpful if the bots and the Perry brigade would once in awhile tag, or add a comment that we will each be supporting the best nominee for the general election. So, I hope you are right and that in the end we will.
It makes me crazy. Supposedly rational adults running around a conservative forum whining “It’s not FAIR!!!!!” WAAAAA!!!! That mean SARAH PALIN won’t follow the RULES!!!!
Someone needs to tell them that they are special, give them a cookie and send them to the time-out room to think about how their decision to have an outburst has affected their classmates.
Or just to grow the hell up and stop acting like petulant children.
Now for a “Book of Zot!”
So are you suggesting if someone endorses someone for congress, senator, or governor he/she should endorse them for any office they run for? She endorsed Bachmann too. Evidently she talks about this in her emails and how she didn’t understand why he was doing this. Even Perry (to his credit) admitted it was wrong. Whether she gets in or not she may not endorse anyone at this stage in the game. However, she’ll campaign hard for whoever wins.

“because we are left without enough information to properly defend Rick and battle against the bots of all stripes, who are on here today bashing Rick, promoting some yahoo”
It isn’t about ‘defending’ anyone Rita. It’s about getting the truth out there and letting the people decide for themselves. The harder you ‘defend’ Perry on these issues only shows the need to ‘defend’ them. Palin has been vetted.
So we are to ignore Perry’s flubs because it’s all about ‘winning’? Principles be damned? Gonna push Romney again as well?
Well I am not Sarah Palin, do not live in Alaska and do not know her motivations behind her supporting or not supporting Perry. Not to be argumentative but what she did does not reek of dishonesty, she told no falsehood or withheld any information. Bottom line here despite what Sarah Palin thinks is Perry supported a position with is anathema to Conservatism, regardless of how he spins, spun, or denies it. It is kinda a big deal, I contend bigger than his position on illegal immigration. It was a was a shining example of the intrusive nanny state busybody-ism we are plagued with. The vaccine is of questionable efficacy, has serious side effects even Rick Perry would agree it was not a communicable disease threat, the level that pre pubescent girls just needed to get it. This is Perry's RomneyCare circle a square issue and I think this is one of a a few paper cuts he will die from in the primaries.
Palin has done significant harm to her brand. And I will say it again, she sounded like a 45 year-old valley girl as I was listening to it on Sirius Radio. It was terrible.
How so? exactly? Don’t just blurt that out, back it up with actual proof.

Norm, dear, I am not defending Perry. THAT was my very point! I want him to defend himself. Did you not read my comment, or get my point? Hells bells, yes, I am in a hurry for us to coalesce around an early leader and stay out of the weeds. The media is going to paint us as being in disarray, squabbling and nit picking like Republicans always do to their own, while they garner the broader general election voter by pointing to our circular firing squad! Heck, I’m almost game for a “group hug” with you and Finney. :)
