The Texas governor has also called the social safety net a "monstrous lie."

The MSM seems uninterested in quoting Perry accurately on this. The only part of the quote you ever see is the words "monstrous lie".

How about the quote in context?

“It is a Ponzi scheme for these young people. The idea that they’re working and paying into Social Security today, that the current program is going to be there for them, is a lie,” Perry said. “It is a monstrous lie on this generation, and we can’t do that to them.”
The "monstrous lie" is telling young people that SS will be there for them when they retire.

Yes, totally inaccurate - he was saying it was a monstrous lie to claim the program could continue in its present form for the younger people who will retire many years from now - which is completely accurate. In addition, the treason quote is another one they don’t bother with being accurate - the way Wolf Blitzer was using it as a question was pitiful - Perry was very respectful but if I had been him I would have interrupted and asked that he stop asking an inaccurate question.
