The first thing that hits you when you get out of your car in that filthy city is the smell. Think of the smells from an old gym bag, the worst gas station restroom you’ve ever been in, the loading dock at the morgue, and a pot of boiling vinegar, all mixed together at once.
That’s a shame. I was there as a kid and it was pretty dirty then but still pretty doable if you stayed out of the more questionable areas; especially at night. Now, I wouldn’t even attempt it.
