An expensive new vaccine that prevents cervical cancer will be available free to thousands more Alaska girls than previously announced, thanks to increased federal aid.
The state Department of Health and Social Services said Monday it will have enough money to distribute the vaccine Gardasil to at least 27,000 girls between the ages of 9 and 18.
