Mr. Krugman,
I just read your comments in your column, “The Years of Shame” (http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/11/the-years-of-shame/?smid=tw-NytimesKrugman&seid=auto). Are you insane, or just seriously that stupid? If you have “The Conscience of a Liberal”, I would think that it would be more likely “The LACK of Conscience of a Liberal”. The reason the celebrations are “oddly subdued” is because of the powers that be — your beloved liberal Mayor Bloomberg amongst them — have ordered that they be so. It wasn't that the PEOPLE wanted them so. America remembers, and America wants to celebrate the memory of those who were murdered that day.
Sir, some day you may realize that you are wrong to negate this date. You are wrong to assume that you — as a liberal — understand what this date means to others. “As a liberal” because it was not liberals who made America. It was not liberals who wrote the U.S. Constitution that made America the great nation that she is. It was not liberals who fought and died to make America the country that draws others to her in their heart's desire for freedom, for hope, for a future for their children and their children's children. Go to America and have all of that, they thought. Their dreams were not built on a liberal’s version of America. It was all on the backs of people like me: Christian Conservatives who made America. That, Sir, is why you will never understand today, nor much of anything else about America. You chose to be someone who does not understand her, appreciate her, nor want her to continue being America: Greatest Nation on Earth! I am so sorry for you.
Kudos!
