Here's a speech from a Texas Tea Party event in which Gov. Perry alludes to secession. He was quoting Sam Houston for one thing.

Governor Perry - Texas Secession

I can't imagine any conservative listening to this speech and not believing this is a sincere, authentic and bold Conservative leader.

I'm more interested in what they do than what they say. We got burned badly by the last Texas governor who ended up in the White House. Importing a bunch of people who vote Democrat is not conservative.

I listened to that speech, and secession was never mentioned. He was talking more about states’ rights than anything else. He also said he and fellow Texans are fed up with DC tax and spend policies.

It was an awesome sounding speech. Then he backtracked a day or two later.
