They pedaled through intense heat, pouring rain and pounding hail, but nearly a dozen firefighters who left on bicycles from Los Angeles six weeks ago made it to New York just in time.
"They've been unstoppable," said Erik Scott, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
"I think some of the amazing things they've done is the terrain they've gone through," Scott said. "They are exhausted but in good spirits."
As part of the national "Ride for 9-11," firefighters from Los Angeles city and county and other stations across Southern California cycled cross-country to raise money for charity and honor the 343 firefighters who died in the collapse of the twin towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
Their rode for six weeks, from fire station to fire station across 3,308 miles, reaching New York City in time to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9-11.

I’ve done enough cycling to know this is one hell of a trip.
Even with sag wagons.
Outstanding. Thanks for posting.
Well, seeing as how they set on their laurels and play x box, workout, and wash their pretty trucks in their own private resorts built at taxpayers expense, I can see how they have the time and money to make the journey. I can’t believe how many new firestations are going up in Tucson despite the lack of funds. They are in the process of building an even bigger sttion right next to the one they just remodeled, waste. EMT’s are all we need, firefighters should be volunteers period!
Not to toss cold water on this feat, but were these 12 fireman being paid for pedaling?
Or was this done on their own time?
The news story was silent.
Thanks for posting this uplifting story.
Too bad Nanny Bloomberg won't let them near the 9/11 ceremony.

Interesting you say that. Every time some old lady falls in her home, or there is a traffic accident, we see at least 2 or 3 rescue trucks, a full size fire engine, and then paramedics respond....My neighbor said it's like a response to an airline crash every time they roll on a simple medical issue.

A worthwhile perk if it is the case.
Thank you. I forgot to post the picture earlier and now I can’t so it’s perfect that you did.
You’re welcome. :)
You three trolls are worthless, go away.
