Uh, during the 1960’s, in response to the rapid influx of baby boomers into the school system, lots of schools added “portables’ or “trailers”. I lived in an affluent city and attended classes in such “trailers”. Fifty years later those “trailers” are standing up fine, and still being used.

Today’s “trailers” are technologically superior to the old ones. They are potentially more efficient (think “greener”) than old brick and mortar. I’ve worked in nonprofit organizations where we’ve considered using “trailers” as an alternative to expensive brick and mortar.

One of my grade school years my class was in a trailer. A second trailer held our school library. That year my older brother's class met in a nearby church in the room used for Sunday School.

It was the end of the baby boom and our school was bursting at the seams. Been there, done that--the Tshirt no longer fits. It was a tad cold in the winter, but I did learn to read, write, spell and do math with absolutely no harm to my phyche.

And FWIW, I was born a week after our Dear Leader, but I suppose he would have no frame of reference as to what elementary education was like in AMERICA when he was a child.
