I would have missed it too if not for this thread. I am so glad we don’t have to listen to Obama. Bush gave a great speech and I must say, so did Clinton.
Yes, yes, YES!
The essence of a great speaker is the ability to communicate. President Bush just communicated depth, understanding, comfort, faith, strength, remembrance, compassion and patriotism in a few short words.
I am reminded of his speech at the Washington Cathedral after 9/11. Possibly the best speech I have ever heard........ever!
That's why I will never lose respect for this man, this leader, no matter how others mock.
He DESERVES our respect. He sacrificed his own popularity (which was great) to keep us safe.
I will never forget.
This is not the thread .... but spending comes to mind.
I won't turn him into a saint at any time.... but I will always appreciate what he gave this nation when we needed it most.
And he reminded us of that today.
Hopefully this is a good enough explanation to calm that knee jerk reaction you seem to be suffering from.
Hopefully.
After almost 3 years of Obama, Clinton isn’t so bad after all.
Wonder what Bohner thought when Clinton said that? I still can’t decide if he’s a true “good guy” or just in for his own political gain too.
And I agree-God bless President and Mrs. Bush!
On a positive note—I thought it was really neat when the bagpipe player walked through playing “Amazing Grace.”
there would have been no 9/11 if the democrats would have allowed the pilots to be armed.
That is SO true. One of the best parts of his speech.
Well, it was great watching this with you all.
Clinton did a (figurative) pratfall right out of the gate. He said while sitting on the dais he asked Pres. Bush how he’s doing, or how he’s handling the pain. And Bush said, according to Clinton, “ ‘I was doing fine until I saw you.’ “ It sounded like Bush had been referring to Clinton himself.
People started laughing. Clinton quickly added, with that famous finger of his, “All of YOU,” referring to the families in the audience.
Made a total fool of himself.
They did not loose their lives, they gave their lives. AMEN
I’m sorry, and I mean no disrespect, but that “memoriol” is ugly.
There's no need to say in every post that the man wasn't perfect. It's understood, is it not? There's also no reason to accuse those who support him of turning him into a 'saint.'
There's a long way between legitimate, deserved respect and admiration and sinful idolatry.
Biden, as the most senior rep of our govt is in the front of the line walking past the wall, and he has no idea what he is supposed to do. What a sorry mess he is. I wonder if Obama will change vp candidates before the dem convention next summer?
AND>..yet again, Biden sounds “SLURRED”
And I was juuuust about to post, “Thank goodness they didn’t let Biden speak.” Now I just hope he doesn’t say anything to diminish the day for the families.
You and me both. Heck, Clinton is George Washington compared to Dear Leader.
Amen! I thank God too.
It is no accident, nor coincidence that a man of prayer, faith and obedience was President during this dark time in our history.
biden on, tv off! I’ll just read comments from those hearty enough to listen.
