CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS — Let us begin by confessing that, if Sarah Palin surfaced to say something intelligent and wise and fresh about the present American condition, many of us would fail to hear it.
That is not how we’re primed to see Ms. Palin. A pugnacious Tea Partyer? Sure. A woman of the people? Yup. A Mama Grizzly? You betcha.
But something curious happened when Ms. Palin strode onto the stage last weekend at a Tea Party event in Indianola, Iowa. Along with her familiar and predictable swipes at President Barack Obama and the “far left,” she delivered a devastating indictment of the entire U.S. political establishment — left, right and center — and pointed toward a way of transcending the presently unbridgeable political divide.
The next day, the “lamestream” media, as she calls it, played into her fantasy of it by ignoring the ideas she unfurled and dwelling almost entirely on the will-she-won’t-she question of her presidential ambitions.
So here is something I never thought I would write: a column about Sarah Palin’s ideas.
There was plenty of the usual Palin schtick — words that make clear that she is not speaking to everyone but to a particular strain of American: “The working men and women of this country, you got up off your couch, you came down from the deer stand, you came out of the duck blind, you got off the John Deere, and we took to the streets, and we took to the town halls, and we ended up at the ballot box.”

It is too bad, she has not put her hat in the ring. But, is it too late? Probably not, considering our less-than-ideal choices from the GOP, due to their own difficulty getting past the idea of a female GOP president.
I believe the GOP has thrown Bachmann under the bus, due to their sexism.
Can we believe Sarah will run on the GOP ticket, if she does run? Regardless, I hope she will run and I hope everyone will support her over the RINOs being supported by the GOP.
Sheesh...all the NYT is doing is its job..ringing the alarm bells for the RinoCracy.
The RinoCracy-the bipartisan cohort of socialist-crony capitalists has led the country to the brink. They are out of minds and out of ideas. The real question, if there is anything to question, might be whether they have more to lose by being thrown out of leadership than by fomenting internal chaos. Somebody at media-central is beginning to perceive the RinoCracy might well be thrown out-and is sounding the sirens.
When I look at this source (NYT) I think maybe pigs will fly! This backs up that article also posted today by Professor Jacobson - “Sarah Palin May Be The One Liberals Have Been Waiting For”.
More like "fanning the flames." I don't see the media breaking out of it's role of forming public opinion.
And too, this is essentially one article out of step with the normal form of kookifying Palin. It might be an early step in giving her an open microphone, or it might be a temporary aberration.
I think media-central is completely and totally invested in the two party ruling class model of government.

The Times must really be worried about Perry so they’ve suddenly started encouraging Palin to jump in.
Weird, a friend just opined “the next president will be bought by corporations. That isn’t right”.
I didn’t have the heart to tell her “Yeah? And you still have disdain for the Tea Party and Sarah Palin? Everything that bothers you is why there is a Tea Party and Sarah Palin.”
But she’s too stoopid to be president besides being stoopid?
I recall being told by a friend who has everyone including Bill Clinton in her house that American wasn’t ready for a woman to be president. This was when Hillary was running.
I laughed saying “That’s funny. You find me a Jean Kirkpatrick, Golda Meir or a Margaret Thatcher and that woman has my vote”.
(I love getting a chance to discuss my mind in those circles sometimes)
Sarah comes closer than most men to my political ideals and she sticks to her word and promises.
She will have my vote and probably some of my hard earned loot when she decides to run.
While I’d like to see her become President, I doubt if that will happen. However, I wouldn’t be surprise to see her tapped as a cabinet member. She make a great Secretary of Energy. I would love to hear the enviros yell for the next eight years.

As the free agent she is now, she get s all kinds of media attention, her every word is reported, SHE choose when and where, how long she speaks and what she says. Because of who she is, the gets the media coverage free. The other candidates wouldn't have the following, the crowds nor the coverage. they had to jump into the race to get attention. Remember, Reagan didn't get into the race until NOVEMBER. Worked out pretty well. ;o)
Yeah, Freerepublic’s search engine sometimes works well, other times it doesn’t - I searched before posting and nothing came up.
Do YOU know where you local Republican Committees meet? Your local “Women's Republican Committee”? Your county Republican Committee? FIND OUT. (If y ou have trouble finding out, call you local congressman’s/senators office. They'll have the information. Call and get the time and place of the next meeting and GO. Take a friend. (do the buddy system ;o)...) You can quickly start making a difference. You can usually get chosen as a representative to the spring State Conventions where YOU will have a vote on candidates! AND on the Party Platform. This is where the power starts. YOU can have a say in it. This is how we get ‘Tea Party’ thinking people to Washington. “If you ain't part of the solution, you're part of the problem.”
Don’t search by keywords, search by title, and pick the two least common ones: “political divide”.
Even just searching “divide” found all three postings among the first four.
That’s funny, because “divide” is what I used...LOL!
Of course now it works...
The default search is on keywords, not titles. Trips me up nearly every time.
