1. Dogs don’t have instant transmission. 2. A human who is running on adrenaline, who is running without hesitation, who is not going to drop and pause if he hears a growling dog, is going to be gone over the average city yard before the Nazi guard dog can stop him.

I'm still trying to figure out how any of that explains why they need to shoot this dog.

They weren't in pursuit of a perp, and so far whether there even was one is speculation.

The cops were called after the home security alarm went off. If there was a perp, and he ran through that yard he was long gone by the time they got there.

If you’ve read my other posts, you’d know I’m not in support of the cops in this situation.

The perp obviously wasn’t in the yard, because the dog wasn’t barking and the owner was on her way home and the procedure should be allowed to control the dog.

There was no excuse to shoot it.
