Good work? Surely you're joking. Per the article the officers disobeyed orders not to go into a yard with a dog. Yet, in they went with guns blazing. Good work? I don't think so.
My own opinion but if a neighborhood is so questionable that you need a guard dog, why would anyone leave him out back? How's he supposed to protect the home if a criminal goes in through the front door? The dog should have been left indoors.

Because the backyard is more secluded and offers more shelter to hide the break in. My front yard is wide open and anyone trying to break in would be seen clear as day.
My 3 labs ensure that no one tries the backyard route.
