I agree. This is the first time I have ever heard of anyone expressing shame for or passing judgment on those people who had to choose between burning to death or jumping. If I had been in that terrible situation on 9/11, I'm pretty sure that I would have taken a great big swan dive out of the towers and aimed for the street as gracefully as I could, hoping that the end would be instantaneous on impact.

Some of these people referenced in the story need to get a grip and understand that the jumpers were murdered just like those who went down inside the towers.

It is absolutely astounding to me that anyone would consider these people suicides but then I remember a coworker on the day that it happened telling me that he didn’t understand why people jumped. I was amazed and asked him what he thought he would do in that situation and he actually told me that he thought he would have walked into the fire, I told him he was nuts, there is no way to do that. He never said anything about suicide, it seemed that he just had no concept of what burning feels like and thought that somehow it would be easier than jumping. I still shake my head in disbelief when I think about it. Anyone who has ever had even the most minor burn should know that given that choice it is inconceivable to think of walking into the fire rather than jumping.
