The Assembly is sending Gov. Jerry Brown a controversial bill that would unionize workers who receive state subsidies to care for children in their homes.
Assembly Bill 101 cleared the lower house today, 48-23, after a lengthy debate. Republicans argued that unionizing home child care workers would hurt poor families because it would drive up their costs for hiring care. Democrats argued that child care workers deserve a seat at the table in negotiating with the state.

Democrats argued that child care workers deserve a seat at the table in negotiating with the state. No, the Rats are just repaying the union thugs for putting them in office.
You can bet that babysitters are just chompin’ at the bit to start paying union dues.
Hide your children or move out of California where there aren’t so many union fascists.
You can bet all the moms out there are just dying to pay more for child care
The world is coming to an end, and they’re calling out for pizza.
Yup, just what this state needs. More unions.
Our legislators are retards.
Now the unions will be getting a cut out of the baby sitter's wages paid by the state.
It's another money laundering technique, just like all of the government unions. The money then flows back to the politicians.
This is why government unions must be outlawed.
Next up...unionize the Neighborhood Lemonade Stands.
yep.. I live in this friggin state, and I just can’t wait until the lefty parents that voted for these jerks, have to start giving the necessary breaks for babysitters, thus the need to hire not 1 but 2 babysitters ( babysitters will have to rotate shifts).
this will of course lead to many parents just not following the law. and that of course will lead to lawsuits from illegal babysitters, stating they were never allowed or able to take their lawfully required breaks. this will also lead to far less young teenage girls being able to babysit and make a few bucks..
wonderful ...*#@#$5
The taxpayers pay the babysitters, then the babysitters pay the union, then the union pays the politicians, then the taxpayers pay the babysitters more, then the babysitters pay the union, then the union pays the politicians more ...
DO IT~!!!!!!
This will tear apart the unions more than anything else
When single moms suddenly have to pay more every week so that the employees can pay ‘union dues’ they will be ... less than thrilled
What exactly is a worker that receives state subsidies for taking care of children at home...is California unionizing the welfare queens?
More like, The world is coming to an end so I called out for a pizza and they pulled over the pizza delivery guy for low tire pressure then filed a ADA lawsuit on behalf of the pizza delivery guy because my home isn't wheel chair accessible and there are no hand rails in my bathroom.
I always wondered how civilizations like the old Roman empire could simply fall apart when they basically were at the top of the food chain and no one could touch them. Well now I wonder no more, the human termites of society eventually take over the control of the state and send it on a kamikaze dive into obscurity and no one seems to be able to even speak out against them, let alone stop them. CA is a leader but as I see it the nation is not that far behind, the ground is rushing up fast right now here in CA but the rest of the US will be following as the human termites have infested every government in the US and the west. Enjoy the ride!
No they are hard core communists and only interested in filling their pockets. Every damn one of them in California are criminals bilking the system.
Actually I think they are going to need grocery bags, unless the grocers all leave.
How many childcare providers in California even pay taxes? Even if the gubmint subsidizes the daycare center, the workers are probably not the tax/union due-paying type...
Our trade unions here in the east have realized the folly of their ways, as their jobs have gone to illegal aliens while they sit on the dole bitching about it (while still pushing Dem candidates who work hard to keep those illegals here).
Well hell, just send those jobs offshore.
