Rick Perry: "The Promises and Platitudes' Aren't Going To Cut It"
ABC News ^ | 09/08/2011 | Michael Falcone

Posted on 09/09/2011 2:36:31 AM PDT by PSYCHO-FREEP

Mr. President, we cannot spend our way to prosperity, it does not work.”

Perry said he has a “record of change” whereas Obama only offers “the rhetoric of change.” Though he spent most of his brief remarks assailing the president, Perry vowed to continue to contrast himself with his GOP rivals too.

Perry, who mixed it up at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Wednesday night with the other Republican presidential hopefuls, particularly Mitt Romney, acknowledged that “we’ve got our differences.”

“We’ll talk about them,” Perry said, adding “hopefully in a very respectful way.”

“I stood on the stage last night with seven other very, very fine and great Americans and every one of them would better than what we have in the White House today,” Perry told the crowd, “any one of them.”

Few in the crowd seemed to be concerned about Perry’s use of the term “Ponzi scheme” to describe Social Security despite the criticism he has been drawing even from other Republicans. (Perry did not use that phrase on Thursday.) In fact, some of his supporters appeared to be embracing “Ponzi scheme” as a rallying cry. Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson, a Perry backer, who spoke ahead of the governor, praised Perry’s use of “provocative language.”

And Micki Blair, a teacher from nearby Corona, Calif. who said she was leaning toward Perry in the primary, agreed.

“I don’t think his rhetoric is too strong,” she said. “I think that people are mature, have a brain. They can figure out that if you don’t put enough in, you can’t pass it all out. It just doesn’t work that way.”

Perry will remain in California through the end of the week. He has a full schedule of fundraising events in Southern and Central California and the Bay Area.

Is someone here advocating that we skip the primary process?

Please name that person and link to that post.

Cincinatus’ Wife, was it you?

(I really have a hard time, sometimes, figuring out what some of you Perry-haters are going ON about. Seriously. I just don’t get it.)

And BTW, I’m just hitting Reply All here (figuratively speaking). sicoflibs is the one adding other people’s names to these posts.

Sarah Palin was never in charge of a border state.
Well, there is that famous border with Russia. :)

But seriously, I thought about that too, but I also thought that it's so obvious that I'd leave it to someone else to point out.

Perry Needs to go back to the Social(ist In)Security plank in the platform from the 2000 Cycle, And put Cain in charge of it, and make him Veep.

Cain is right on Chile, and Galveston, (which Perry should already be aware of)

I have never advocated skipping anything.

I have tried to avoid being anything but an advocate for the best GOP candidate.

Yeah, I got my hat handed to me for extending 3 invitations to people to join Perry but I don’t go on pack attack excursions.

YOU !

Your comment above as with your others in response to a factual comment. Just using the term XXX-hater is saying you want to ' we skip the primary process', just as another group wants to do with their 'dream candidate' by calling others XXX-hater on their threads.

yep, pretty safe to be critical of Romney, but not Perry, Palin, Bachmann....no-no-no that must be hate.

Yeah, well, I was asking a rhetorical question.

I know you never advocated anything other than people making up their own minds about the candidates they want to support.

For the record, I have pretty much stopped responding directly to the Perry-haters. My posts on the subject of that photo in #44 are an exception to that rule.

But I’m going to go back to the new kindler, gentler me, which is avoiding arguing with the retards and just speaking with people who have something interesting to say. Pro or con.

English is obviously not your first language if you think that my criticism of unfair posting on FR is the same as advocating the end of elections.

Your response is exactly the kind of response I am talking about.

You don’t want to discuss. You just want to wipe poop on the walls and jump up and down and grab your crotch and flip me the finger.

Being from MN I know Bachmann would have trouble carrying her home state.
I do not hate her I just know it is true.

I do not hate Romney or Perry I just have a different initial preference if she puts on her running shoes.

vicar7 loves interesting and exciting and can understand folks thinking it is not safe.

My premise is: Obama cannot win so it does not matter who we choose we win. Go with your favorite and let the votes be counted.

RE :" We found it was better to educate illegal immigrant children (brought in by their parents) who, if they’d been in the Texas public schools for a least 3 years and graduated from a Texas H.S. (which we had no control as a state to block) -— to allow them to PAY in-state tuition as they apply for legal citizenship (this is not the U.S. Congress Dream Act) so they will support themselves and not continue being on the welfare system, the Federal nanny state imposed welfare condition."

That is better, a specific defense of the issue. I think it is a severely flawed argument/defense though. Both amnesty and college only encourages MORE illegals to come here with their children, and there is no proof that (all) college degrees makes people 'productive'. Like a degree in immigration law?

On many issues, however, he is, moreso than anyone else running except Bachmann and Crazy Ron Paul (who I question is even a conservative).

The trick with Perry is to tell him a deal is "the largest"....he falls for it hook, line and sinker.

Good point, and precisely NOT what the USA needs on top of our existing $15 Trillion debt.

When you keep posting ‘hater’ you are tattooing the word ‘victim’ on your forehead, not the first.

Perry said repeatedly, he is not for amnesty. Why do you keep spreading that falsehood again and again? That and the “Open Borders” lie. Nothing could be further from the truth.

----------------------------------------------------------------

But just to be clear: if border security is accomplished, you can envision some sort of path to citizenship for people who are here illegally.

RINO Mitt Perry: Sure.

How was it Michele Bachmann put it, what she said about not sending illegals back?
