MITT ROMNEY - a self-centered, lying, used car salesman. A sickening thought that he may be the R candidate.

I disagree somewhat with the author.
Rubbish?
I just know what it is like to have parents that are 90 years old and on social security. Only the highest educated seniors will sign on with Rick Perry's philosophy on this. It isn't that he's WRONG. We can agree with his message and be cautious how its packaged.

Gov. Perry CLEARLY stated in the debate (as have others) that this will not remove people living on SS now or disrupt SS for those set to go on it.

If a campaign is run and won on the need to reform our obese government, the new president will have a mandate to take the necessary steps once in office. Obama claimed a mandate for Obamacare because he campaigned on that and was handily elected. This is an important concept.

I know. Believe me, I'm not any less a supporter of Perry today than I have been in the past. Just understand that I have a little "fear" that voters may misinterpret his intentions on SS.
It doesn't take much to lose people on this topic. Its a dice game. That's all I'm saying.
Hopefully, the issue gathers steam as he has portrayed it and people embrace it.

I know and I hear you and that was sort of the point of this thread post.
UNION stronghold Wisconsin (where I was born) and OLD FOLKS capital of the world Florida (where I learned to drive in St. Petersburg — I am a VERY defensive driver) — both states elected Senators who SPECIFICALLY brought this subject to the forefront.
That is encouraging and instructive to candidates.

I'm "glade" you continue to expose your
(1) ignorance,
(2) dishonesty,
(3) All the above.

People on it or about to be on it will be the last hopefully.
Instead of making EVERYONE buy into the government program, people in true need could be assisted (just as with health care). It is wrong to force the states to adopt the federal program, force it on the entire country and grow federal control it always goes bust.
You got that right, i think they should leave most every thing alone, cut government in half and cut the red tape and regulations in half for a start and watch this country go, but i think they want it to go the opposite direction than what i am thinking of.
