Thursday’s Republican presidential debate showed that the race is now down to a two-candidate contest, John McCain’s campaign strategist, Steve Schmidt said minutes after the candidates’ forum ended.

Rick Perry and Mitt Romney are the only two with a chance, Schmidt said on MSNBC after the debate at the Ronald Reagan library in Simi Valley, Calif.

“As the campaign progresses you will see an increasing focus on the two of them,” said Schmidt, the token Republican on the left-leaning channel’s after-debate show.

Romney, Schmidt said, “did a very good job. He was poised and made no mistakes."

I hope that Perry and Romney supporters will wake up and realize that both candidates are not what we need right now. Both are rinos and will continue the establishment ways regardless if they have an (R) after their names or not. We need REAL conservative leadership at this stage in our countries history and neither of these candidates fit the bill.

Yeah, Perry really seems like he has the establishment’s support. LOL

I’m voting for Perry. You vote for whomever you like.

Oh on topic....I care about as much of a McCain staffer’s opinion as I do Kathleen Parker’s. These people ran the worst campaign I can remember the last couple of decades.

So says the ultimate Establishment RINO, Steve Schmidt.

Both Perry and Romney should be very afraid when losers like this start talking about them.

It’s the mark of political death.

Perry could care less what this pipsqueak has to say.

Perry marches to nobodies drum. He stands tall all on his own, has solid courage and IS a man of strong principle.

Not even the Paultards can refute that.

You can look at them from here to eternity, neither has much of a prayer to win the nomination. Both have wonderful qualities, both acquit themselves well in debates, but neither of them is really catching on outside of their immediate die hard supporters. Republicans will continue applauding what they have to say, but looking to Perry, Romney or maybe Bachmann as the actual serious contenders.

Another Perry Apologist heard from.

Perry marches to the drum-beat of the drum his corporate donors are beating.

The same corporate donors that need and rely on a a steady supply of cheap labor from south of the border subsidized by the American Tax Payer.

That is why Perry:

1. Is against employing E-Verify to limit the ability of Illegal Aliens to find jobs.
2. Is against interior enforcement that really works like AZ1070
3. Is against a Border Fence.
4. Wants to get rid of the border altogether.
5. Gave in-state tuition to Illegal ALiens.
6. Support Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

Furthermore,

To effectively “Secure” the border, you have to use ALL of the tools available, not just “Boots-on-the-ground”. That by itself has always failed and never solved the problem and never will by itself.

And that is why I confidently say Rick “Open-Borders” Perry has never wanted to really solve the problem, despite all his talk concerning “Securing the Border”.

” Schmidt said that while Perry played well to his conservative base,
calling President Barack Obama a liar
and saying social security is a Ponzi scheme,
his comments would not help when it comes time to face the president in November next year. “

Would not help Obama he must have meant to say...

Schmidt has a few superfluous consonants in his surname.

I think the odd-numbered ones are adequate.

When asked about him once, Sarah said if she ever had to hire a bald consultant again it would probably be James Carville. She was joking of course.
