The trojan came in and disabled my protection and apparently began deleting.
All desktop icons, all of our pictures, turbotax...all gone!

open any folder on the top bar click tools, then folder options in drop down, , tghen view tab, then check show hidden files and folders, click apply. May need to do for every single folder in windows explorer.
Then run something like malwarebytes and avast. That’s what I had to do when it happened to me. I picked mine up more than once at dailtmail.co.uk— that fake windows virus checker thing that tries to hold ya hostage.
