RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York man pleaded guilty Thursday to killing four people during a pharmacy robbery for prescription painkillers and his wife, who drove the getaway car, pleaded guilty to robbery.
About 40 of the victims' relatives looked on as David Laffer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder charges and his wife, Melinda Brady, pleaded guilty to robbery.

That wouldn't be a problem in Texas. The mere fact that she was an accessory to an armed robbery would make her eligible for prosecution on capital murder charges.
I take it NY doesn’t have a law that if you participate in a crime involving a murder that you’re automatically charged with murder whether you killed the person or not.
It’s called the felony murder rule, and if Sam McCoy knows his New York law, it does apply.
Both of these evil sh!ts should get to ride old sparky. Of course in liberal NY the "barbaric" death penalty has been done away with.
On another note it's a good thing none of the victims was armed (due to the near impossibility of getting a carry license in NY and the jackpot sentence if you're caught carrying without a license there) Someone could have gotten hurt. Oh wait the criminals killed four innocents. I hope that loathsome little turd Bloomberg (and yes I know Suffolk isn't in NYC, but it's affected by what goes on in NYC) and that liberal bag'o'wind Cuomo are proud of their continued anti-self defense activities.
They’re dancing. She would have been guilty of felony murder just by being the accomplice in a robbery where a homicide occurred.
Then you have a trial and establish her level of guilt. This bitch pushed the little loser into committing the crime.
If the getaway driver was a dude, he'd be charged with the exact same crimes as the shooter.
But the acceptance of this plea from her is a gender thing - a woman couldn't possibly have been willing to kill for her drugs. Sexism in the extreme.
A total cop-out by the prosecutors.
She should be.
Robbing a pharmacy at gunpoint may, by definition, result in murder. She only had to know he was going to rob the pharmacy with a gun.
She qualifies in every state with the felony murder rule, imo.
There was a local case where a thug robbed a restaurant and killed the owner and an employee. The thug's girl friend was driving the getaway car. When they were arrested, she refused to a plea bargain, because the DA would only offer a plea for murder. She wanted no more than manslaughter. The DA got her indicted for 1st degree murder. She went to trial, and the jury wouldn't convict on 1st degree murder, but did convict on 2nd degree murder. I'm pretty sure she got a stiffer sentence than if she had plead guilty of 2nd degree murder. The DA got the murder conviction he wanted, and the girl friend did not get a manslaughter conviction she wanted on the plea deal.
